The reverse design on this year's releases marks the 2013 Year of the Snake, one of 12 animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar. In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Snake – 1905, 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001 and 2013, are regarded as intelligent, graceful, independent, analytical and charming. The coins depict a snake curled amongst grass and bamboo shoots. However, production will close at the end of 2013, when The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. A maximum of 100 10 kilo coins will be produced on a mint-to-order basis.
