Information for patients Pharmacy Obtaining supplies of your cancer treatment You have been prescribed an oral anti-cancer treatment (that is, tablets or capsules). Weston Park Hospital pharmacy will check for any interactions with your current medicines. They will advise you about your medication before starting your first course of treatment, explain how to store your medicines and how to dispose of any supplies left over. All future cycles of treatment will be dispensed by the Boots Pharmacy based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. What happens next? Boots at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital work closely with the clinical team at Weston Park Hospital to ensure your medicines are supplied safely and efficiently. A Weston Park specialist from Boots will contact you once they receive your next prescription. How will I get more supplies of my medicines? After your clinic appointment, when your blood results are available, your doctor will authorise your prescription. This is checked by a specialist pharmacist at Weston Park Hospital who sends the prescription to Boots. Boots will offer you a choice of how to get hold of your medicines. These options are flexible to allow you to choose the option most convenient for you. • Collect from Boots Pharmacy at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on the day of your appointment or at a later date. This may take up to 30 minutes from when Boots receive the prescription that is ready to dispense. There will be a delay in Boots receiving your prescription if your blood results are not back at the time of your appointment. • Collect from a selected Boots Pharmacy store, usually within 48 hours after your appointment: - Berkeley Centre, Ecclesall Road - Hillsborough - Cheapside, Barnsley - Meadowhall Shopping Centre - Shopping Centre - Northern General Hospital (Huntsman entrance) - Heeley Retail Park, Chesterfield Rd - Waitrose, Ecclesall Road / St Mary’s Gate - High Street, City Centre

• Delivery to your own home, selecting a convenient date, and where possible a morning or afternoon delivery. How will Boots contact me? Boots will contact you on the telephone number provided from your hospital patient record. This could show as an 'unknown or private' number. If you would prefer to be contacted by an alternative

These details are held in accordance with the Data Protection Act. When will Boots contact me? Boots will contact you up to 2 working days after your appointment, when they receive your prescription. The time of phone calls may vary. If you have not heard from Boots 3 days after your appointment, please contact them. What if I run out of supportive medicines? Anti-sickness medicines, anti-diarrhoea medicines, steroids and creams may be supplied with some treatments. Let Boots know if you do not need supplies of these medicines. Your GP and local pharmacy may also be able to provide you with these medicines if this is more convenient. Your GP and local pharmacy cannot supply cancer treatments so if you run out of these you should contact us. Who can I contact if I have a problem or question?
