Professor Paul Obi-Ani attended Boys’ Secondary school, Umueze, Awkunanam between 1976 and 1981. He graduated from Department of History, University of Nigeria in 1990. He joined the same Department in 1998 as an Assistant Lecturer. He rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2005. He became acting Head of Department of History and International Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2009-2011 and again 2013-2015. He became a Professor of Political History, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2011. He authored two books: Post-Civil War Political and Economic Reconstruction of Igboland, 1970-1983 and Shehu Shagari’s Presidency, 1979-1983: An Appraisal. He has published over thirty articles in books and journals and has supervised over ten MA dissertations. He is also external examiner to a number of universities in Nigeria.
