Tel: 01420 547400 Dear Prospective Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the Head of School post at Treloar’s.

I believe that this is an exciting opportunity for a person with a commitment to improving outcomes for physically disabled young people. Treloar’s is a very special and dynamic place to develop your career and make a real impact on young people’s lives.

Treloar’s School is a non-maintained special school with a growing primary phase which has 24 children on roll who are all day students. The consists of 55 children who are a mixture of day students and weekly boarders. For young people over the age of 16 we do offer termly and full-year residential provision. Student placements are largely funded by local authorities - we currently work with 45 different councils.

The School and College are inspected separately by OFSTED and both are rated “Outstanding.” In addition OFSTED Social Care inspect the School residential provision and the CQC inspect the residential houses for older students, our nursing, medicines management and therapy and all are also rated “Outstanding.” I am very keen to build on our strong external relationships and to both share and incorporate best practice - we are active participants in Challenge Partners, NASS and a range of other specialist provider networks.

As many of our students have complex medical needs, we have a team of 25 nurses who provide 24 hour support. At Treloar’s , we have large teams of onsite Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistive Technologists, Counsellors and Dieticians whose work is integrated into student programmes and co-ordinated with teachers and residential staff through our MDT approach. We have positive relationships with parents and the School has achieved the Parent Partnership Award.

We have fantastic facilities on our large Campus, where the school is co-located with Treloar College. These include both swimming and hydrotherapy pools, a new outdoor learning centre, well-appointed modern classrooms and a range of other specialist accommodation. Each year the Treloar Trust raises nearly £2m to support our work.

You will be part of the Senior Management Team of the School and College, together with the Head of College and Heads of Clinical, Transition and Residential Services, Safeguarding, Quality and Marketing. It is a strong team with whom you will quickly develop excellent collaborative relationships. We purchase our HR, facilities, transport and financial services from the Charitable Trust. This enables the Head of School to focus on raising standards in all areas, making sure that we are meeting the needs of all our students and working with families and LAs of current and prospective students. You will be leading our young people and staff and providing them with exciting and challenging opportunities.

Despite the challenges of the current pandemic, throughout which we have continue to support students both on and off site (we are currently fully open), we are determined to press ahead with our plans to develop our provision. The Current Head of School, is moving to take up a new opportunity in the sector. We have started to develop a national reputation for excellence in all aspects of our provision and I need your help to enable us to take our next steps.
