SAN JOSE, CA (July 31, 2017) – Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID will bring the beloved fairy tale to life onstage at San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts (255 S. Almaden Blvd.) September 26–October 1, 2017. Audiences of all ages are sure to fall in love with this underwater spectacular! In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, it’s a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. Come fall in love with the magic for the first time—or all over again with classics such as “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl, “Part of Your World” and more! Off-Broadway: The Property Known as Garland starring Adrienne Barbeau and Dragapella at Studio 54 (Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Best Production). JOHN MACINNIS (Choreographer) is the choreographer of Disney’s The Little Mermaid in Tokyo, along with the new company that just opened in Nagoya, Japan in November 2016. He also choreographed Disney’s Beauty and the Beast which ran in five European countries. Mr. MacInnis is the associate choreographer of the new West End production of Dreamgirls and for the Broadway productions of Something Rotten!, Disney’s Aladdin and the 2011 Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon. He directed and choreographed the Olympic Medals Ceremonies at the 2010 Olympics Winter Games in Whistler, B.C., Canada and the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. from 1999-2001 he directed and choreographed the out of town productions of The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, including the first international production in Mexico City, Mexico. Mr. MacInnis has choreographed at The Shaw festival, Goodspeed Opera House, Pittsburgh CLO, Theatre Under the Stars, Music Theatre Wichita, Sacramento Music Circus, The 5th Avenue Theatre and North Shore Music Theatre. COLIN R. FREEMAN (Musical Director/ Conductor) has served as the musical director for the regional productions of (partial list): Annie, Annie Get Your Gun, The Andrews Brothers, Assassins, Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls (1992 U.S. National Tour), Grease, Gypsy, Harmony, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wizard of Oz.
