Sex Toys: Material & Care
Sex Toys: Material & Care Adapted from: Good Vibrations and Babes in Toyland. For all Toy Use If you'd like to swap toys with a partner or use the same toy vaginally and anally without interrupting the flow of things to wash up, put a condom on your toy (a new one for each use) to minimize the risk of transmitting viruses or bacteria. Vibrators Vibrators can be wiped clean with a cloth moistened with warm water or alcohol. Vinyl vibrator attachments can even be washed in the top rack of a dishwasher. To prevent corrosion of motor parts, don't ever immerse a vibrator in water (except, of course, waterproof vibrators). Silicone Toys Clean silicone with mild soap and water, and make sure it's been rinsed well and is thoroughly dry before putting it away. (Most viruses and bacteria cannot live on a dry surface.) Silicone products can also be safely washed in the top rack of a dishwasher or sterilized by boiling (unless your dildo has any plastic parts attached). Any toy made of silicone has a non-porous surface that will clean easily and thoroughly. Silicone is the best material for any toy that may be used by more than one person because it can be disinfected between people. If you boil a silicone dildo for 3-5 minutes in plain old water, you will have a safe playing field for the next person. You can just wash it with antibacterial soap if you are using it with the same person. One word of caution: please do what you can to avoid breaking the surface of the silicone. -

1 Published in the Encyclopedia of Homosexual- ity, Ed. Wayne Dynes, New York: Garland, 1990, pp. 775-779. Masturbation is tactile sexual stimulation other than through intercourse. Techniques. Masturbation is harmless, legal, and carries no risk of disease. Typical masturbation, involving pleasurable stroking, caressing, or massaging of the genitals and other parts of the body, is healthy fun and cannot be overdone. Soreness or chafing heals easily if treated gently, and use of a lubricant reduces irritation. For men an oil, including household oils (Crisco, cooking oil, baby oil) and some hand lotions, will work well; [p. 776] for women a water-based lubricant intended for genital lubrication, such as K-Y or Astroglide, will give better results. Through experimentation with different strokes and caresses, not just on the genitals but all over the body, each person can discover what, for him or her, is most pleasurable. Some find the use of a vibrator helpful, and a variety of gadgets, store-bought or homemade, are used to assist in providing the desired sensations. However, a good masturbation machine for male use has yet to be developed. Thoughts or pictures of stimulating scenes (*fantasy, *pornography) can increase one’s excitement. If desired, masturbation can be prolonged, and the intensity of orgasm enhanced, by stopping just before orgasm, to begin again when excitement has somewhat subsided. Masturbation with friends, a common male experience of adolescence, is becoming an adult practice as well. Pairs or groups can either masturbate separately while watching and talking to each other, or partners can masturbate each other, either simultaneously or taking turns. -

Emergency room admissions and surgery secondary to the malfunctioning of devices intended for sexual stimulation are extremely common. Emergency room staff of hospitals in the United States usually are skilled in the detection and removal of these devices. Occasionally, surgical intervention is warranted if the device enters a cavity that cannot safely be explored in the emergency room setting. We report a case of a vibrator that was lost during sexual activity. A flat plate X-ray showed it to be in the abdominal cavity. Careful questioning of the patient revealed that the device had an unusually small diameter. Surgical intervention showed that the device ultimately ended up in the bladder without causing traumatic injury. -

On Meat and Sex and Intimacy LB So in the history of bestiality laws in the U.S. is it possible to pinpoint a specific moment when this Lucy Beech (LB) in conversation with Gabriel N. Rosenberg (GR) pre-modern conception of the animal shifted from a co-conspirator in a case like this to a victim of inter-species sexual assault? GR In the actual structure of American law, the shift surprisingly didn’t really happen until after 1970. At this time, bestiality in the U.S. was criminalised mostly through crimes against nature statutes. Prior to this, crimes against nature statutes or sodomy statutes, as they were called, classified a number of non-procreative sex acts under a single label. These statutes were a primary way of criminalising same sex sexual interactions along with bestiality, oral sex, and even heterosexual The following conversation between artist Lucy Beech and Gabriel N. STALLION EJACULATION INDUCED by MANUAL STIMULATION of the PENIS Jim Crump, Jr and Julia Crump Roanoke AI Laboratories, Inc., 8535 Martin Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24018
L THERIOGENOLOGY STALLION EJACULATION INDUCED BY MANUAL STIMULATION OF THE PENIS Jim Crump, Jr and Julia Crump Roanoke AI Laboratories, Inc., 8535 Martin Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24018 Received for publication: February 25, 1988 Accepted: iVooember 21, 1988 ABSTRACT This paper reports the use of a procedure for collection of semen from stal- lions by manual stimulation of the penis while the stallion is standing. Our use of this method with 18 stallions of various ages and types of semen collection ex- perience indicates that this method may be an efficient alternative to traditional semen collection techniques using an artificial vagina and stimulus mare or dummy mount mare. Our observations, together with those of others who have tried the manual technique, suggest that both animals and handlers can be readily trained to use this method. Limited data suggests that semen samples obtained by manual stimulation are similar to those obtained using an artificial vagina. Key words: equine, stallion, semen collection, artificial insemination INTRODUCTION A number of methods, including condom, vaginal s onge and artificial vagina, have been employed for collection of semen from stal rIons (1). Currently, the most widely recommended technique is the artificial va ina wrth a mare or dummy mount. Successful collection of semen using an arts Prcral . vagina with the stallion standing on the ground was recently reported (2). Since 1965, we have employed an even simpler method of collecting semen from the stallion using manual stimulation of the penis, and holding a disposable plastic bag over the end of the enis to catch the ejaculate. -

A middle-aged man was found unconscious in a bathroom when the door was forced open and was pronounced dead on admission. Autopsy revealed that the penis was inside an artificial vagina. There were no injuries, but there were left ventricular hypertrophy, myocardial fibrosis, and narrow coronaries. The cause of death was ascertained as ischemic heart disease due to coronary atherosclerosis and die comments included were no evidence of violence, and ischemic heart disease could have been precipitated due to abnormal sexual activity. If removal of artificial vagina was done before the admission, this circumstance could not have ascertained. Removal of such devices before admission to hospitals could be the reason why such incidents do not come to light. Sexuality and Affection in the Time of Technological Innovation: Artificial
religions Article Sexuality and Affection in the Time of Technological Innovation: Artificial Partners in the Japanese Context Beatriz Yumi Aoki 1,* and Takeshi Kimura 2 1 Communication and Semiotics Program, Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, São Paulo 05014-901, Brazil 2 Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-8571, Japan; [email protected] * Correspondence: [email protected] Abstract: Recent years have witnessed an increase in the number of academic studies on the impact of technological advancements on human life, including possible transformations and changes in human sexuality following the development of sex-related devices, such as sex robots. In this context, terms such as posthuman sexuality, digisexuality, and techno-sexuality have emerged, signaling possible new understandings of sexual, intimacy, and emotional practices. It is important to note that ancient history shows that humankind has for a long time been fascinated with their relationship to non-living things, mostly human-like figures, such as dolls. The Ningyo ( , the Japanese term for doll) has a long history of usage, and has deep religious and animistic significance in the Japanese context—there are records of sexual use as early as the 18th century. With this context in mind, this paper focuses on three Japanese examples, aiming to shine a light on beyond-human relationships, which include a Japanese man’s marriage to a digital character, sex dolls, and communicative robots, from both a sexual and emotional perspective. In a new horizon of sexual and romantic possibilities, how will humans respond, and what can emerge from these interactions? Citation: Aoki, Beatriz Yumi, and Takeshi Kimura. -
“The Taste of Any Public”: How Intellectual Property Law Illuminates the Failings of the Miller Test
“THE TASTE OF ANY PUBLIC”: HOW INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW ILLUMINATES THE FAILINGS OF THE MILLER TEST INTRODUCTION Joe is a pornographer and an inventor. You may not like or approve of what he does, but he is a businessman like anyone else. His business, though, is regulated by a bizarre and inconsistent set of standards. Joe has made a pornographic film. He registers his copyright in the film and it is granted by the Copyright Office, conferring on Joe the exclusive right to distribute and reproduce the film, among other things. The film itself includes a scene that depicts a woman using a sex toy, a new kind of dildo whose design Joe has submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) for a patent. The patent is granted, giving Joe the right to exclude others from copying his design. His product, though, cannot be sold in certain states because obscenity law bars its sale. Joe calls the company that produces such films and sex toys “SeXXX,” and tries to register his trademark so that no one else in his industry can use it. The USPTO denies his trademark registration, because the name is “scandalous.” The results of this scenario for Joe, then, are as follows: he owns a copyright in his film, but if someone illegally downloads it or posts it on a website and Joe sues for copyright infringement, he makes himself vulnerable to criminal prosecution for having made the film in the first place.1 He cannot vindicate the copyright that the government conferred on him (lest that same government prosecute him for obscenity); the sex toy that appears in the film was granted a patent by the government, but its sale is illegal in many places (meaning that viewers can watch it, but can’t actually use it).
