Today we will be Book Club – closed finalizing positions in the team. We will be sending home information to parents seeking your input into the PBL implementation. Integrity and Industry 1 Cross Country Training Cross country is on Thursday, 1st April for students turning 10, 11 and 12 years old. Cross Country will be held at the Biggenden Sports Ground. Students are to be there at 8.45am for a 9am walk of the course. Private transport will be required on this day. Parents attending will be required to sign in on the attendance sheet as part of the events Covid Safety Plan. Spelling Awards / Student of the Week Each week students learn spelling words which are individualized. They all have a pre-test before and only the words incorrect are then learnt for that week. Students usually have 15 words. Spelling Awards for Week 6: Year P – 2: Oliver, Lachlan, Lawson and Sapphire Year 3 – 6: Mitchell, Leah, Kathlene, Lisa, Chloe and Bianca. Coalstoun Lakes State School Integrity and Industry 2 P&C The Annual General Meeting of the P&C was held on Thursday, 4th March. Thank you to those families for attending. Office bearers for 2021 school year are: President – Peter McNaughton Secretary – Kerry Farrell Treasurer – Jo Campbell The P&C are continuing to provide fruit break for each day and snacks on a Friday at morning tea time using the grant money they received. Fruit Break Fruit break is a time during the school day when students can “refuel” on fruit, protein or vegetables. Each day students need to bring an item from these food groups to eat in the morning. Same Day Absence Notification Could parents/caregivers please inform the school prior to 11.00am of their child being absent from school and the reason why. The school will contact parents/caregivers if the absence is not explained. This is a statewide policy that ensures the safety of all children. The school number is 4127 5133 and if your call is un-answered, please leave a message on the answering service. No Hat, No Play Our school is a sun safe school and have a “No Hat, No Play” policy. All students are required to have a hat to allow them to play in the sun at morning tea and lunch times. Students without a hat are advised to play in the undercover area. The school do have several spare hats that students can use for curriculum based lessons (eg: HPE) but due to hygiene reasons it is preferable that all students have their own hat. Please ensure that all hats are named. Dates 1 April – Cross Country – Biggenden 10/11/12 year old 2 April – Good Friday Public Holiday & Last day of term 1 19 April – School resumes – Term 2 P & C News As a way of supporting the school, families are requested to mow the transpiration area on a rotational basis according to your family’s surname. There is a push mower, which was purchased by the P&C, available for families to use. This mower is to be used with the grass catcher attached with grass clippings removed from the area and scattered as mulch in nearby garden areas. With the warmer days and the “snake season” we hope to keep this area tidy. Due to recent rain, the transpiration area needs mowing by the Miller Family. Coalstoun Lakes State School Integrity and Industry 3 Community Notices Meeting to discuss the proposed closure and sale of St Thomas’ Anglican church, Coalstoun Lakes On Saturday 27 March 2021 there will be a meeting for members of the community of Coalstoun Lakes, and for parishioners of the Anglican Parish of Goonaneman, to discuss the proposed closure and sale of St Thomas’ Anglican Church. There will be a viewing of the church at 2.00 pm, followed at 2.30 pm by a meeting in the Coalstoun Lakes Memorial Hall, Isis Highway, Coalstoun Lakes. All interested persons are welcome to attend. Aircraft flown at that time mainly con- sisted of aircraft received as part of the Imperial Gift. The Avro 504K, 20 of which were ordered in 1918 and another 35 received as part of the Imperial Gift, became an important part of the newly-formed RAAF's operational capability throughout the 1920s. The Imperial Gift was Britain's donation of aero- planes and equipment to the Dominions in 1919 to establish air forces. The only original surviving Impe- rial Gift aircraft in Australia are Avro 504K A3-4/H2174, stored at the Treloar Technology Centre (Can- berra) and S.E.5a A2-4/C1916, exhibited in the ANZAC Hall of the main Australian War Memorial dis- plays in the Australian War Memorial.   • Queensland Geological Framework
    Geological framework (Compiled by I.W. Withnall & L.C. Cranfield) The geological framework outlined here provides a basic overview of the geology of Queensland and draws particularly on work completed by Geoscience Australia and the Geological Survey of Queensland. Queensland contains mineralisation in rocks as old as Proterozoic (~1880Ma) and in Holocene sediments, with world-class mineral deposits as diverse as Proterozoic sediment-hosted base metals and Holocene age dune silica sand. Potential exists for significant mineral discoveries in a range of deposit styles, particularly from exploration under Mesozoic age shallow sedimentary cover fringing prospective older terranes. The geology of Queensland is divided into three main structural divisions: the Proterozoic North Australian Craton in the north-west and north, the Paleozoic–Mesozoic Tasman Orogen (including the intracratonic Permian to Triassic Bowen and Galilee Basins) in the east, and overlapping Mesozoic rocks of the Great Australian Basin (Figure 1). The structural framework of Queensland has recently been revised in conjunction with production of a new 1:2 million-scale geological map of Queensland (Geological Survey of Queensland, 2012), and also the volume on the geology of Queensland (Withnall & others, 2013). In some cases the divisions have been renamed. Because updating of records in the Mineral Occurrence database—and therefore the data sheets that accompany this product—has not been completed, the old nomenclature as shown in Figure 1 is retained here, but the changes are indicated in the discussion below. North Australian Craton Proterozoic rocks crop out in north-west Queensland in the Mount Isa Province as well as the McArthur and South Nicholson Basins and in the north as the Etheridge Province in the Georgetown, Yambo and Coen Inliers and Savannah Province in the Coen Inlier.

ROBERTSON 72 CAINOZOIC VOLCANIC ROCKS IN THE BUNDABERG - GIN GIN - PIALBA AREA, QUEENSLAND by A.D. Robertson ABSTRACT. Six periods of volcanic activity have been recognized during the Cainozoic Era in the southern portion of the Bundaberg and the northern part of the Maryborough 1:250 000 sheet areas. Most have been short lived (less than 15 to 2 Ma) and all are of limited areal extent. The composition of the lavas vary with successive eruptive periods. The Palaeocene to early Eocene volcanics (Gin Gin and Pemberton Grange Basalts) are dominantly theoleiitic in composition. By the mid-Miocene, alkali basalt was being extruded. Moderately to strongly undersaturated lavas (Tararan and Maroondan Melanephelinites) were extruded during the Pliocene, and by the Pleistocene the magma composition had changed back towards the alkali basalt — hawaiite field. The late Pleistocene Berrembea Basalt exhibits a range of composition from moderately undersaturated to lava having tholeiitic affinities. The Tararan Melanephelinite with its entrained upper mantle — lower crustal xenoliths implies magma generation in the upper mantle with a direct passage through the crust.

In the Mundubbera district Upper Palaeozoic sediments of the .southern portion of the Y arrol Basin are exposed in a broad syncline. The sequence has been divided into two Devonian and six Carboniferous formations. Considera­ tion of fossil zones and stratigraphic and structural relations infers that the Carboniferous rocks are of Tournaisian, Visean, and possibly Namurian age. Lithologic variation throughout the Carboniferous indicates a single strong vertical movement of the Gogango High at the end of Tournaisian time. Evidence is presented showing that this vertical movement of the high may be related to orogenic movements within the Yarrol Basin. Various lines of evidence suggest that the eastern margin of the basin is here marked by a thrust sheet of Lower Palaeozoic rocks.
