Weekly on Tuesdays At Coalstoun Lakes, we have started the process of PBL. Amanda attended a day’s training for coaches last week. Today we will be Book Club – closed finalizing positions in the team. We will be sending home information to parents seeking your input into the PBL implementation. Integrity and Industry 1 Cross Country Training Cross country is on Thursday, 1st April for students turning 10, 11 and 12 years old. Cross Country will be held at the Biggenden Sports Ground. Students are to be there at 8.45am for a 9am walk of the course. Private transport will be required on this day. Parents attending will be required to sign in on the attendance sheet as part of the events Covid Safety Plan. Spelling Awards / Student of the Week Each week students learn spelling words which are individualized. They all have a pre-test before and only the words incorrect are then learnt for that week. Students usually have 15 words. Spelling Awards for Week 6: Year P – 2: Oliver, Lachlan, Lawson and Sapphire Year 3 – 6: Mitchell, Leah, Kathlene, Lisa, Chloe and Bianca. Coalstoun Lakes State School Integrity and Industry 2 P&C The Annual General Meeting of the P&C was held on Thursday, 4th March. Thank you to those families for attending. Office bearers for 2021 school year are: President – Peter McNaughton Secretary – Kerry Farrell Treasurer – Jo Campbell The P&C are continuing to provide fruit break for each day and snacks on a Friday at morning tea time using the grant money they received. Fruit Break Fruit break is a time during the school day when students can “refuel” on fruit, protein or vegetables. Each day students need to bring an item from these food groups to eat in the morning. Same Day Absence Notification Could parents/caregivers please inform the school prior to 11.00am of their child being absent from school and the reason why. The school will contact parents/caregivers if the absence is not explained. This is a statewide policy that ensures the safety of all children. The school number is 4127 5133 and if your call is un-answered, please leave a message on the answering service. No Hat, No Play Our school is a sun safe school and have a “No Hat, No Play” policy. All students are required to have a hat to allow them to play in the sun at morning tea and lunch times. Students without a hat are advised to play in the undercover area. The school do have several spare hats that students can use for curriculum based lessons (eg: HPE) but due to hygiene reasons it is preferable that all students have their own hat. Please ensure that all hats are named. Dates 1 April – Cross Country – Biggenden 10/11/12 year old 2 April – Good Friday Public Holiday & Last day of term 1 19 April – School resumes – Term 2 P & C News As a way of supporting the school, families are requested to mow the transpiration area on a rotational basis according to your family’s surname. There is a push mower, which was purchased by the P&C, available for families to use. This mower is to be used with the grass catcher attached with grass clippings removed from the area and scattered as mulch in nearby garden areas. With the warmer days and the “snake season” we hope to keep this area tidy. Due to recent rain, the transpiration area needs mowing by the Miller Family. Coalstoun Lakes State School Integrity and Industry 3 Community Notices Meeting to discuss the proposed closure and sale of St Thomas’ Anglican church, Coalstoun Lakes On Saturday 27 March 2021 there will be a meeting for members of the community of Coalstoun Lakes, and for parishioners of the Anglican Parish of Goonaneman, to discuss the proposed closure and sale of St Thomas’ Anglican Church. There will be a viewing of the church at 2.00 pm, followed at 2.30 pm by a meeting in the Coalstoun Lakes Memorial Hall, Isis Highway, Coalstoun Lakes. All interested persons are welcome to attend. Warm up your stomach muscles and prepare for a weekend of intense belly laughs across the North Burnett region including Mundubbera, Monto and Biggenden this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This bumper 3-day tour has seen some bumps of its own with anticipated headliner Mel Buttle unable to make the tour due to international travel restrictions. But don’t worry, we have you more than covered with our numerous award nominated comedian, Damien Power stepping up to the stage with his comedy superpowers and hosted by our newest tour member, the Bush Barbie and celebrity comedian, Nikki Osborne. Give a smile and a fist full of cash to the North Burnett local community groups who will have food and beverages available for purchase at each show with a selection of beer, wine, softdrinks and light meals to give everyone a great night out! 100% of profits from these sales will go directly to each community group!
