The purpose of this project is to support farmers and graziers to restore their land productivity by reducing new and existing weed infestations following the severe weather events caused by ex-tropical . Funding for this project has been provided to Burnett Mary Regional Group, under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements through the Reconstruction Authority. The Burnett Flood Recovery Weeds project is administered by the Burnett Mary Regional Group and in the Central Burnett region, the project is being coordinated by the Burnett Catchment Care Association.

Is your property located along the floodplains of the central Burnett? (see yellow areas in map below)  YES! Area includes floodplains in North Burnett Regional Council area downstream of O’Bil Bil Ck - junction to Paradise Dam. See overleaf for a list of all creeks eligible under this program.

Flood Recovery Weeds Priority Area – Central Burnett

If you said YES! to both of these questions, then contact the BCCA office for a Herbicide Application Form and Property Map as soon as possible! Applications will be assessed fortnightly between November 2013 and April 2014. Chemicals supplied are to be used for weed control by 30 April 2014.

1. Contact BCCA for a Herbicide Application Form and a map of your property 2. Fill in the application form about the weeds you need to treat and draw on the map where they are 3. Submit both application form and map to BCCA 4. If successful, you will be notified within a few weeks of submitting the form 5. Collect your chemical from one of the following depots: - Landmark - Ag-Traders - Rural and Vet Supplies - Mundubbera Rural and Vet Supplies - Biggenden Hardware and Rural Supplies 6. Use the chemical for weed control with your own equipment and labour before 30 April 2014 7. When finished, call BCCA to organise a property visit or send us photos of the results!

10 things you need to know about the Floods Recovery Weeds Program – Central Burnett 1. Weed control must be undertaken on the Burnett Floods Recovery – North Burnett Weeds Program target weeds species:  Parthenium weed, Parthenium hysterophorus  Hymenachne, Hymenachne amplexicaulis  Rubber Vine, Cryptostegia grandiflora  Cats Claw Creeper, Macfadyena unguis-cati  Giant Rats Tail grass, Sporobolus pyramidalis  Madeira Vine, Anredera cordifolia or S. natalensis

2. Weed control must be located within the flood zone in the central Burnett (yellow areas on the map overleaf). Creeks included (within the North Burnett Regional Council boundary only):  Auburn River  Boyne River  Sunday Creek  Redbank Creek  Coocher Creek  Perry River  Chess Creek  Derrabungy Creek  Creek  Cheltenham Creek  Toondarah Creek  Mt Hastings Creek  Derri Derra Creek  Aranbanga Creek  Reids Creek  Brovinia Creek  Barambah Creek  Burnett River (from O’BilBil  Toondoonangainy Creek  Sandy Creek junction to Paradise Dam)

3. Applicants collect the chemical, as determined by BCCA, from the approved supplier and to utilise the chemical for the specified weed control by 30 April 2014.

4. Chemicals will be supplied by Mundubbera Landmark, Mundubbera Rural and Vet Supplies, Gayndah Rural and Vet Supplies, Biggenden Ag Traders or Biggenden Hardware and Rural Supplies only as agreed to by BCCA.

5. Applicants must provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and chemical application equipment.

6. Applicants are responsible for the safe use and application of chemical.

7. Applicants must provide evidence that the weed control planned was actually undertaken by sending photos to BCCA or by permitting a BCCA Field Officer to visit and take photos and/or collect data. Applicants must allow a Field Officer to inspect the works undertaken if requested (permission will be sought from the landholder).

8. These activities will NOT be funded or supported through this project: a. Supply of chemical that will not be used on the identified priority weed species. b. Supply of a chemical that is not listed as part of this project. c. Cash contribution towards chemical, equipment or contractors.

9. Submitting and application does not guarantee approval. Applications will be assessed and approved based on whether they meet the criteria; located within the flood zone of the central Burnett; addressing target weed species and using appropriate control methods.
