Artemis Greenberg Van Doren Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition of paintings titled All American, on view from November 14 - December 28, 2001. The exhibition will feature works by a generation of American artists who emerged during the post-war era.

All American will present selected works by artists who were part of, inspired by, or reacted to the . This movement is represented by classic examples of Hans Hofmann, Jackson Pollock, , Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, and Cy Twombly. In counterpart to this group will be examples of California abstraction by Richard Diebenkorn and Sam Francis. Twombly’s Untitled (Roma) - which is inscribed ‘ of R.R.’ (Robert Rauschenberg) - bridges the Abstract Expressionists with Pop Artists Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Robert Rauschenberg. Among the highlights in this group is Warhol’s graphic reversal Nine Blue Marilyns, and a late work by Lichtenstein, Interior With Woman Leaving, which is painted with his trademark outlined forms. Frank Stella is represented in the exhibition with a relief work from the 70s, Mysterious Bird of Ulieta.
