VACANCY FOR CLERK/RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER Name of Council Kingsthorpe Parish Council Job Title Parish Council Vacancy Statement Kingsthorpe Parish Council has a vacancy for a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer commencing in August/September 2021. Kingsthorpe Parish Council is a new council within the former Northampton Borough Council boundary. There are Requirements approximately 17,000 electors making it the 3rd largest parish/town council in West Northamptonshire. Only Northampton Town Council and Daventry Town Council serve a greater number of electors. Kingsthorpe Parish Council has 15 councillors serving 5 wards. Each of the wards represents its own diverse community. You will need to work with ward members to ensure that needs of each ward are met. The council is ambitious, and you will need to help to drive forward their priorities including the re-opening of Kingsthorpe Library, developing a community plan, and taking a lead on climate change initiatives. The council intends to be a strong voice on local planning matters and will be developing a neighbourhood plan in the future. The Parish Council holds the General Power of Competence and so applicants must either hold or be prepared to obtain CiLCA qualification (Certificate in Local Council Administration). The successful candidate will have excellent administrative and organisational skills and ideally have experience of working within local government and a political environment. You will need to be a good communicator and be able to work under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy are essential, together with IT skills which should include the competent use of the Microsoft range of products. A sound understanding of local council financial procedures would be an advantage. The post includes some evening work and attendance at council meetings is required and there is likely to be occasional weekend working, for community events and so on. A formal handover process will be put in place with the Interim Clerk Hours of Work 37 hours a week Salary Salary Scale LC3 scale point 33 is 36,922 FTE and entry into the Local Government Pension Scheme.
