The three-day event RECORDS (as of 3/11/19) runs March 21-23. The Nittany Lions have won seven of the last eight NCAA team championships and will have Nine NCAA qualifi ers in this year’s fi eld. The event begins on Thursday, March 21, with sessions at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. Session three begins at 11 a.m. on Friday, March Name, Wt. Record 22, and the national semifi nals take place in session four on Friday at 8 p.m. The medal rounds begin day three of the event on Aarif Asif, 165 0-2 Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. The Championship Finals are set for 7 p.m. on Saturday. The entire event will air live on the ESPN family of networks. All three morning sessions (1, 3, 5) will air live on ESPNU. All three evening sessions (2, 4, 6) will air live on Brady Berge, 149 18-3 ESPN. Three of those nine NCAA qualifi ers will be the top seeds at their Joey Blumer, 141 3-3 respective weights. A total of seven Penn Staters are seeded in the top three (including the three No. 1 seeds and three No. 2 seeds) and all nine of Penn State’s entries are seeded in the top 12. For the fi rst time, the NCAA is seeding all 33 wrestlers Roman Bravo-Young, 133 21-4 whereas last year only the top 16 were seeded. Please note that the records vs. the fi eld listed below for each wrestler may include results against wrestlers at different weights. Anthony Cassar, 285 25-1 Austin Clabaugh, 133 1-2 True freshman Roman Bravo-Young (Tucson, Ariz.) is the No. 10 seed at 133. Bravo-Young earned an NCAA bid by placing fi fth at the Big Ten Championships and is 21-4 on the year. He will meet No. 23 Mario Guillen of Ohio in the opening round of his fi rst Jon Consorti, 133/141 0-6 NCAA tournament. Bravo-Young is 8-4 vs. this year’s fi eld and 0-0 at the tournament all-time. Jack Davis, 125/133 4-4 Sophomore Nick Lee (Evansville, Ind.) is the No. 3 seed at 141. Lee, a returning All-American after placing fi fth at 141 last year Creighton Edsell, 165/174 0-0 as a true freshman, earned his spot at nationals with a third place fi nish at Tens and is 27-2 on the year. Lee will take on No. 30 Nate Limmex of Purdue in the fi rst round. Lee is 10-2 vs. this year’s fi eld and 6-2 at the tournament all-time. Paul Feite, 149 4-5 Redshirt freshman Brady Berge (Mantorville, Minn.) is the No. 12 seed at 149. Berge punched his ticket to Pittsburgh by placing Brian Friery, 157/165 8-10 sixth at Big Tens and is 18-3 overall. He will meet No. 21 Khristian Olivas of Fresno State in the opening round of his fi rst NCAA Luke Gardner, 149 9-6 tournament. Berge is 6-3 vs. this year’s fi eld and 0-0 at the tournament all-time. Dominic Giannangeli, 141 3-6 Senior Jason Nolf (Yatesboro, Pa.) is the No. 1 seed at 157. Nolf, a three-time All-American and two-time defending NCAA Champion, won the Big Ten title to earn the automatic spot and he is 26-0 this year. Nolf will meet the winner of the pigtail match Mark Hall, 174 26-0 between No. 33 Ben Anderson of Duke and No. 32 Alex Klucker of Lock Haven in the opening round. Nolf is 11-0 vs. this year’s Patrick Higgins, 133/141 3-1 fi eld and 14-1 at the tournament all-time. LIVES HERE. And it ended in dramatic fashion. In the 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships’ final match after three days of grueling competition inside a legendary arena, Ohio State’s Kyle Snyder used an ankle-pick with eight seconds left to force overtime with North Carolina State’s Nick Gwiazdowski, then score another takedown 15 seconds into the first extra session to end the Wolfpack senior’s 88-match winning streak. Gwiazdowski’s bid for a third title was thwarted, but another senior, Oklahoma State’s Alex Dieringer, finished his career with 82 straight victories and a third national title. Illinois’ Isaiah Martinez won his second championship at 157 pounds. Gabe Dean, a junior for Cornell, picked up his second gold. Missouri’s multi-talented J’den Cox claimed his second in three years. Penn State’s Nico Megaludis and Cornell’s Nahshon Garrett, after long and successful careers, finished in style with their first titles. Three-time NCAA Champion wins wrestling’s Heisman UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 1, 2019 – (Portion of release, including quotes, courtesy Bryan Van Kley, WIN Magazine) Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Bo Nickal (Allen, Texas) has won the WIN Magazine/Culture House Dan Hodge Trophy, presented annually to the top collegiate wrestler in the nation by ASICS. The Hodge Trophy has been awarded since 1995. The three-time NCAA champion finished first in the voting, just ahead of teammate Jason Nolf (Yatesboro, Pa.). A Nittany Lion has now won the last three Hodge Trophy awards. Nickal joins former Nittany Lion greats Zain Retherford and David Taylor, who each claimed two Hodge Trophy honors, and former Lion stand-out Kerry McCoy, who won the honor in 1997, as Penn State recipients. In all, Penn State now has four different individuals who have won the honor six times. The Nittany Lion won his third NCAA championship on March 23, defeating Kollin Moore of Ohio State. The 5-1 finals victory at 197 pounds was Nickal’s 30th of an undefeated senior campaign that included 18 pins, three tech falls and six major decisions. In a year that featured four outstanding finalists for the award, known as “wrestling’s Heisman Trophy,” Nickal won the honor over a senior teammate Jason Nolf, also a three-time NCAA champ who had very similar stats as Nickal. The other two Hodge finalists were Rutgers’ senior Anthony Ashnault and Cornell sophomore two-time champ Yianni Diakomihalis, who won NCAA championships at 149 and 141 pounds, respectively.

Lehigh crowned four individual SPORTS COMMUNICATIONS champions and placed all 10 EIWA entrants in the top five of their respective weight classes. Leading the way for the Lehigh contingent is senior Jordan Wood, the No. 8 seed at 285, who recently won his fourth Director, Communications (Wrestling SID) . Steve Lomangino individual EIWA title.
