Right on time for its third birthday, the platform was awarded the most renowned Austrian non-profit Award for websites:theat-Award 2003 (http://www.at-award.at), in the category »Education«. Gold was not awarded in this cate- gory, this platform was given the silver award. Certainly this success would not have been possible without such an excellent and engaged team – it would not even have been thinka- ble, though, without the numerous contributors, initiatives, projects and more who were involved in the constant development and growth of the project. Thank you! >>> The Arbeitskreis Czernowitzerpresse is our new partner project:you will find a more detailed description online under »Projects«. Established in 2002, the project researches the Czernowitz media landscape via international co-operation, not least with the aim of making accessible the German, Yiddish and Hebrew press publications in electronic format. Another important new project is the Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Osteuropa (online since June 2003), an internet portal on Eastern Europe research granting central access to informations from the field, the newest literature, bibliographies, databases, sources, full texts and materi- als. >>> Our range of new articles include: Heinz Hiebler on thoughts on »Literary Studies as Media Cultures Research« in »Theory«, where also Ursula Reber’s article reflecting on the question »Publishing a New Europe or Transeuropean Networking?« will be found. András F. Balogh wrote a »Case Study« on »German language Hungarian Flyers from the Early 16th Century«, while Francis D. Raška analyzed the »Treuegemeinschaft sudetendeutscher Sozial- demokraten« and Stefan Simonek investigated into »Hugo von Hofmannsthal's Galician Implications«. Džemal Sokolović's contribution makes it clear how much work is still needed to lastingly secure national security in Bosnia Herzegovina and hence make a contribution to freedom and peace in a region of Europe that has sadly recently been in the headlines again with Kosovo. Two new articles are to be found in »NCS/NKW«:The organisers‘ introduction and reader on the conference (NCS_Team) is now available in English. Last but very much not least we have added Kristóf Nyíri’s opening keynote speech on »Networks and the Power of Recognition«. >>> Among the many events and materials we would like to particularly draw your attention to the Call for Applications from the FU Berlin for 10 Graduate Scholarships on the topic »The Europeanisation of Europe?« – The deadline is April 8! If you rather feel like a picnic, we would also like to draw your attention to the Trans_European Picnic which will take place in Novi Sad on April 30 and May 1 to address the geopolitical changes that will be brought about by the EU accession. Geschätzte Leserinnen und Leser, Am 1. April 2001 startete Kakanien revisited seine Arbeit mit zunächst einem halben Jahr der Vorbereitung, die dann am 1. Oktober desselben Jahres mit dem Online-Gang von den ver- schiedenen Auf- und Ausbauphasen abgelöst wurde. Pünktlich zum Anlass gewann die Platt- form nun den renommiertesten österreichischen Non-Profit-Preis für Websites, den at- Award 2003 (http://www.at-award.at), in der Kategorie »Bildung«. Gold wurde in dieser Sparte nicht vergeben, also fuhr die Plattform bei der Veranstaltung im einstigen k.k. Fernmeldeamt (!) Silber ein. Der Erfolg insgesamt wäre ohne ein ausgezeichnetes und enga- giertes Team nicht möglich, soviel ist gewiss. Völlig undenkbar jedoch wäre er ohne jene zahlreichen BeiträgerInnen, Initiativen, Projekte..., die am steten Ausbau der Plattform mit- wirken und den Nutzwert dieses ihres (und auch Ihres) Instrumentariums stetig ausbauen. Ihnen allen, die Sie mit uns dieses spannende Projekt verfolgen, unterstützen und tatkräftig daran mitarbeiten, gilt der aufrichtige Dank der Redaktion! Als neuer Kooperationspartner konnte der Arbeitskreis Czernowitzerpresse gewonnen wer- den. Ende 2002 gegründet ist das Ziel die Erforschung der Czernowitzer Presselandschaft in Form einer internationalen Zusammenarbeit, woraus nicht weniger als die Verfügbarkeit der deutschsprachigen, jiddischen und hebräischen Pressepublikationen in elektronischer Form resultieren soll. Seite 1/7 NEWSLETTER +31 04/2004 Ein weiteres wichtiges Projekt ist die Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Osteuropa (online seit Juni 2003), ein Internet-Portal zur Osteuropaforschung, das einen zentralen Zugriff auf Fachinformationen, neueste Literatur, Bibliografien, Datenbanken, Quellen, Volltexte und Materialien ermöglicht. Es gibt zahlreiche Neuerscheinungen zu vermelden:Im Bereich »Theorie« stelltHeinz Hiebler Überlegungen zu »Literaturwissenschaft als Medienkulturwissenschaft« an und reflektiert Ursula Reber die Frage »Publishing a New Europe or Transeuropean Networking?« ausge- hend von der Plattformarbeit. In den »Fallstudien« berichtet András F. Balogh über deutsch- sprachige Ungarnflugschriften aus dem frühen 16. Jahrhundert und Francis D. Raška analy- siert anhand zahlreicher Primärquellen die Rolle der »Treuegemeinschaft sudetendeutscher Sozialdemokraten«. Stefan Simonek wiederum untersucht »Hugo von Hofmannsthals galizi- sche Implikationen«. Und Džemal Sokolović macht in seinem Beitrag deutlich, welche Arbeit notwendig ist, um die Sicherheit Bosnien-Herzegowina dauerhaft zu gewährleisten und damit einen Beitrag zu Frieden und Freiheit in einer Region Europas zu stiften, die kürzlich mit den entsetzlichen Ereignissen im Kosovo erneut ins Bewusstsein aller rückte. Im Bereich »NCS/NKW« wurden zwei weitere Texte hinzugefügt. Einerseits die englischspra- chige Fassung des Berichts der OrganisatorInnen (kurz: NCS_Team), der sich als inhaltliches Resümee wie auch Ausblick versteht, andererseits das Eröffnungsreferat von Kristóf Nyíri, der mit seinem Beitrag »Netzwerk und Erkenntnismacht« ein tragfähiges Fundament für die Diskussionen der nächsten Tage legte. Darüber hinaus finden Sie noch Rezensionen von Klaus Ebner über August Ruhs Schriften zur Kulturtheorie der Psychoanalyse und Anna Schober über die Verkörperungen des Universellen im Streit um Anerkennung anhand von Ernesto Laclaus Buch »Emanzipation und Differenz«.
