She would love to be a professional soccer player someday, but says that is “unrealistic” so instead she would like to go into the medical field to be some type of specialized physician. Art students visit Nolde Forest Andrew Fleek - 9

On October 6, 2015, eight art students from Hamburg Area High School went to Nolde Forest to draw inspiration from the scenery for an art competition. They visited an Senior Emma Clark donates blood! old German mansion that dates back to many centuries ago. During the drive there, the students saw beautiful landscape and scenery. At the mansion, the students took pictures in and around the sight. They stopped at a turtle pond and started drawing from their observations. The students then went to a picnic area to eat lunch and left shortly after. One of the students on the trip was Derrick Boltz whose favorite part of the trip were the amazing views. He took a picture of the background that he may use in the art competition. He is also going to be drawing either a peregrine falcon, a northern harrier, or an osprey for his artwork. For his medium, Derrick will be using colored pencils. The Youth Wildlife Art Competition is an art contest for PA, grades 6-12. The contest was first started in 2013, and a list of threatened and endangered species was created for students to choose from for their drawings. The list can be found on the website for the PA game commission youth wildlife art competition, along with rules and regulations on the art competition. The list includes rodents and many different species of birds. Prizes are awarded to the artists that place in the top 4, and there is an honorable mention as well. The top prizes include $500 for first, $300 for second, $100 for third, and $50 for fourth. The winners get to take a tour of the game commission building along with having their artwork displayed, accepting their prizes, and have a page made out for them in the game commission magazine.
