We trust them to put aside partisanship and come together to provide leadership, direction, and most importantly, results for our people. This roster provides names, photographs and contact information for Missouri’s elected offi cials. Within these pages you can fi nd information about statewide offi cials, as well as our senators and representatives serving in the Missouri General Assembly and the United States Congress. Missourians deserve public servants who respond to our common concerns and give hope to our common dreams. They are better able to do that when you take time to express your opinions. I hope you will use the information in this roster to make your voice heard. As Secretary of State, I am committed to providing outstanding customer service to every Missourian. So please, whether you are a businessperson, voter, investor, student, researcher or historian, I hope you will drop by my offi ce in Jefferson City or contact me whenever you need information about how your state government can serve you better. Very soon we will have the opportunity to repeal so- called “Right to Work” by voting NO on Prop A on August 7. In 1978, I was just starting my career as a carpenter. I didn’t know at the time just how critical my vote on this issue was, but the older members made sure we understood our careers depended on it. Here we are 40 years later, and I’m nearing the end of my career. This issue is just as important and our votes are even more critical this time. The same out-of-state corporate interests are still trying to hurt working families in Missouri. They lost in 1978, and we’re doing everything to ensure they lose again on August 7. Thanks to the hard work of thousands of volunteers—you’re likely among them—and the more than 310,000 Missourians who signed the petition to get our repeal on the ballot, we have the chance to defeat “Right to Work” once again.

Missouri has a scope of practice licensure law, which restricts who can practice nutrition care. Recommendations We should use H.B. 28 to educate and raise awareness of this law, and encourage a change to Section 324.206(6) to expand to include assessing and recommending nutritional intake and lifestyle changes. SAMPLE LETTER TO SEND TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVE(S) May 5th, 2017 Dear ____________: I am writing to ask that you support H.B. 28, which designates the month of November as Diabetes Awareness Month, but also to encourage you to introduce a change to the nutrition law to allow for greater competition, and choice in nutrition care. Missouri law strictly limits who can provide nutritional care, including advice, guidance, education, and assessment. Presently, only a licensed dietician or nutritionist may provide nutrition care including assessment, goal setting, counseling or advice. This law has had the unfortunate affect of giving one nutrition philosophy a monopoly over the whole practice of nutrition. No one group should have this monopoly, and no one method, practice, education, or philosophy is right for everyone.
