Very soon we will have the opportunity to repeal so- called “Right to Work” by voting NO on Prop A on August 7. In 1978, I was just starting my career as a carpenter. I didn’t know at the time just how critical my vote on this issue was, but the older members made sure we understood our careers depended on it. Here we are 40 years later, and I’m nearing the end of my career. This issue is just as important and our votes are even more critical this time. The same out-of-state corporate interests are still trying to hurt working families in Missouri. They lost in 1978, and we’re doing everything to ensure they lose again on August 7. Thanks to the hard work of thousands of volunteers—you’re likely among them—and the more than 310,000 Missourians who signed the petition to get our repeal on the ballot, we have the chance to defeat “Right to Work” once again.

As an outdoor education experience it was so good to see qualities such as teamwork, resilience and care for others feature EXCHANGE so prominently in the activities planned. The students clearly gained a huge amount from the week, learning a lot about themselves in the process.

JOURNAL OF THE HOUSE First Regular Session, 97th GENERAL ASSEMBLY FORTY-SIXTH DAY, THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 2013 The House met pursuant to adjournment. Speaker Jones in the Chair. Prayer by Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, Chaplain. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) Our God, open to us the gates of the morning and reveal to us the glory of a new day as we pause a minute at the altar of prayer. We are facing full days and living through interesting times. For this we need courage and strength and an inner stability of spirit. Grant unto us now the grace of a quiet mind, a steady faith, and a strong will, which will make us more than a match for the mood of this moving moment. Help us to stand up for the rights of all, for obedience to the laws of our state, and for the principles of good government—believing that Your spirit will guide us, Your power will strengthen us, and Your presence will bless us as we do what we firmly believe to be right. We pray also that the people of Missouri may seek to do what is right and good for all and that we may learn to live together in peace. And the House says, “Amen!” The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited. The Speaker appointed the following to act as Honorary Pages for the Day, to serve without compensation: Megan Saleny, Breycin Dysart, Dillon Cardwell and Jacob Haley. The Journal of the forty-fifth day was approved as corrected.

JOURNAL OF THE HOUSE First Regular Session, 98th GENERAL ASSEMBLY THIRTY-NINTH DAY, TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2015 The House met pursuant to adjournment. Speaker Diehl in the Chair. Prayer by Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, Chaplain. O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for Thee; be Thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. (Isaiah 33:2) O Eternal God of us all, who has created us with minds to seek truth, with hearts to feel love, and with wills to choose the right, we bow at the altar of Your presence praying for the establishment of justice and peace in Missouri. Breathe into our hearts and into the hearts of our people the generosity and the genuineness of good living. Save us from unhealthy relationships, break down the walls that separate us, and let pettiness pass away as the power of Your love comes to life within us. We commend our State to You. Make us worthy of the sacrifices which have been built into the foundation of this Capitol. Save us from fools and foolish advice today. From lawlessness and anarchy and selfishness, deliver us. May love, moral values, public integrity, and private character become the blessing of Missouri. Grant that we enter this Saint Patrick’s day with You and may the blessings of Your triune Godhead rest upon us. And the House says, “Amen!” The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited. The Speaker appointed the following to act as Honorary Pages for the Day, to serve without compensation: John Watson III, Breanna Schreimann, Braden Schreimann and Ashley Keene.
