120708 Song Sheet ALLELUIA ASHES 1. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. 1. We rise again from ashes, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. from the good we’ve failed to do. We rise again from ashes, 2. How I Love Him . to create ourselves anew. 3. He's my Savior . If all our world is ashes, 4. I will praise Him . then must our lives be true, 5. My Redeemer . an offering of ashes, an offering to you. 6. Come, Lord Jesus . 2. We offer you our failures, we offer you attempts, ALLELUIA, HE IS COMING the gifts not fully given, the dreams not fully dreamt. 1. I looked up, and I saw my Lord a'comin', Give our stumblings direction, I looked up, give our visions wider view, And I saw my Lord a'comin' down the road. an offering of ashes, an offering to you. (Chorus) 3. Then rise again from ashes, Alleluia, He is comin'. let healing come to pain, Alleluia, He is comin'. though spring has turned to winter, Alleluia, He is comin'. and sunshine turned to rain. Alleluia, He is here. The rain we’ll use for growing, and create the world anew 2. I looked up, and I saw my Lord a'weepin', from an offering of ashes, an offering to you. I looked up, And I saw my Lord a'weepin' for my sins. 4. Thanks be to the Father, who made us like himself. 3. I looked up, and I saw my Lord a'dyin', Thanks be to his Son, I looked up, who saved us by his death. And I saw my Lord a'dyin' on the cross. Thanks be to the Spirit who creates the world anew 4. I looked up, and I saw my Lord a'risin', from an offering of ashes, an offering to you. I looked up, And I saw my Lord a'risin' from the grave. Page 1 BE NOT AFRAID BIND US TOGETHER 1. You shall cross the barren desert, But you shall not die of thirst. (Chorus) You shall wander far in safety, Bind us together Lord, bind us together Though you do not know the way. With cords that cannot be broken. You shall speak your words to foreign men Bind us together Lord, bind us together; And they will understand. Bind us together with love. You shall see the face of God and live. There is only one God. (Chorus) There is only one King. Be not afraid. I go before you always. There is only one Body. Come follow Me, and I will give you rest. That is why we sing. 2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea (Repeat chorus) You shall not drown. If you walk amid the burning flames, You shall not be harmed. BLESSED ASSURANCE If you stand before the pow'r of hell And death is at your side, 1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine, Know that I am with you through it all. Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, 3. Blessed are your poor, Born of His spirit, washed in His blood. For the Kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, (Chorus) For one day you shall laugh. This is my story, this is my song, And if wicked men insult and hate you Praising my Savior all the day long; All because of Me, This is my story, this is my song, Blessed, blessed are you! Praising my Savior all the day long. 2. Perfect submission, perfect delight, BE STILL, MY SOUL Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. 1. Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side; Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain; 3. Perfect submission, all is at rest, Leave to thy God to order and provide; I in my Savior am happy and blest; In every change He faithful will remain. Watching and waiting, looking above, Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend Filled with His goodness, lost in His love. Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end. 2. Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake To guide the future as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below. BEHOLD WHAT MANNER OF LOVE Behold what manner of love The Father has given unto us. (REPEAT) That we should be called The children of God. (REPEAT) Page 2 BLEST BE THE TIE THAT BINDS BRETHREN, WE HAVE MET TO WORSHIP 1. Blest be the tie that binds Our hearts in Christian love: 1. Brethren, we have met to worship The fellowship of kindred minds And adore the Lord our God. Is like to that above. Will you pray with all your power, While we try to preach the Word? 2. Before our Father's throne All is vain unless the Spirit We pour our ardent prayers; of the Holy One comes down; Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, Brethren, pray, and holy manna Our comforts and our cares. Will be showered all around. 3. We share each other's woes, 2. Sisters, will you join and help us? Each other's burdens bear, Moses’ sister aided him; And often for each other flows Will you help the trembling mourners The sympathizing tear. Who are struggling hard with sin? Tell them all about the Savior, 4. When we are called to part, Tell them that He will be found; It gives us inward pain; Sisters, pray, and holy manna But we shall still be joined in heart, Will be showered all around. And hope to meet again. 3. Let us love our God supremely; Let us love each other too. Let us love and pray for sinners BREAK THOU THE BREAD OF LIFE ‘Til Our God makes all things new. Then He’ll call us home to heaven; 1. Break Thou the bread of life, At His table we’ll sit down. Dear Lord, to me, Christ will gird himself and serve us As Thou didst break the loaves beside the With sweet manna all around. sea; Beyond the sacred page I seek Thee Lord; My spirit pants for Thee, O living Word. 2. Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord, To me, to me, As Thou didst bless the bread by Galilee; Then shall all bondage cease, All fetters fall; And I shall find my peace, my all in all. 3. Thou art the bread of life, O Lord to me; Thy holy Word the truth that saveth me; Give me to eat and live With Thee above; Teach me to love Thy truth, for Thou art love. 4. O send Thy Spirit, Lord, Now unto me, That He may touch my eyes and make me see; Show me the truth concealed Within Thy word, For in Thy book revealed I see Thee, Lord. Page 3 DO LORD DOWN IN MY HEART (Chorus) 1. MAY BE ORDERED THROUGH BOOKSELLERS AND MUSIC DEALERS. 1 COPYRIGHT, 1898, BY THE BIGLOW & MAIN Co. PREFACE. For more than 25 years past the Editor of Sunny-Side Songs, Dr. W. Howard Doane, has been deeply interested in and actively engaged with the Song Service in the Sunday School. Dr. Doane's experience as a Sunday School superintendent, as well as a popular composer of sacred music, has given him peculiar advantages in the compilation of a work which children will sing, and which will contribute to the spiritual influence 0| the singing. Over two years has been consumed in the preparation of SUNNY-SIDE SONGS, during which time the opportunity has been embraced to test the songs and make sure that each page could be used with pleasure, gratification and profit by all lovers of Sunday School Songs, old and young, experienced Christian and little child. The necessity for songs on Praise, Prayer, Faith, Christ, Actioity, Sunday School, Repentance, Saloation, Heaoen, and kindred subjects, as well as for Missionary, Annioersary, Christmas, Easter aud Special Days, has been recognized. To aid in a ha'sty examination of the book, and to give a fair idea of the variety and character of the compositions and of the popular authors and composers who have contributed to SUNNY-SIDE SONGS, attention is directed to the following pages : 7, 17, 25, 31,.

  • GRAM PARSONS LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie Van Varik
GRAM PARSONS LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie van Varik. As performed in principal recordings (or demos) by or with Gram Parsons or, in the case of Gram Parsons compositions, performed by others. Gram often varied, adapted or altered the lyrics to non-Parsons compositions; those listed here are as sung by him. Gram’s birth name was Ingram Cecil Connor III. However, ‘Gram Parsons’ is used throughout this document. Following his father’s suicide, Gram’s mother Avis subsequently married Robert Parsons, whose surname Gram adopted. Born Ingram Cecil Connor III, 5th November 1946 - 19th September 1973 and credited as being the founder of modern ‘country-rock’, Gram Parsons was hugely influenced by The Everly Brothers and included a number of their songs in his live and recorded repertoire – most famously ‘Love Hurts’, a truly wonderful rendition with a young Emmylou Harris. He also recorded ‘Brand New Heartache’ and ‘Sleepless Nights’ – also the title of a posthumous album – and very early, in 1967, ‘When Will I Be Loved’. Many would attest that ‘country-rock’ kicked off with The Everly Brothers, and in the late sixties the album Roots was a key and acknowledged influence, but that is not to deny Parsons huge role in developing it. Gram Parsons is best known for his work within the country genre but he also mixed blues, folk, and rock to create what he called “Cosmic American Music”. While he was alive, Gram Parsons was a cult figure that never sold many records but influenced countless fellow musicians, from the Rolling Stones to The Byrds.

  • Dear Friends, Gordon Retired on September 1St, 2020 and I Will Be Retiring the End of September This Year, 2021
March, 2021 Dear friends, Gordon retired on September 1st, 2020 and I will be retiring the end of September this year, 2021. Our good friend said we are rounding the third base of life. Everything seems to look better when you see it from a baseball perspective. Those first pictures from the moment we arrived in Bolivia are very telling. Jenny was five years old when we left West Fargo, North Dakota in September, 1989. It was Gordy’s birthday and we would soon celebrate our 10th year of marriage the month after we arrived in LaPaz, Bolivia. Samuel was three years old and baby Hannah was born in Cochabamba a year and a half later. Gordy and I felt well prepared and called to leave home for another country. I had worked at two universities, including a public and private college. Gordy had done technician work at a university, gone to seminary, and worked with refugees coming from many countries around the world. Neither of us questioned God’s call in our lives, even though we were always trying to interpret it. Our children were innocent as doves, all the while brave as children can be. With God’s blessings and grace, we went. The Bolivian opportunity was full of challenges: hearing and speaking a new language for the first time with people selling in an open-air market; trying to understand a new culture, while simultaneously trying to identify our own; experiencing new holidays we didn’t understand, and often celebrating our own holidays between the five of us.
