The project was conceived as the Slow Food Foundation and FAO independently manage various activities in Africa with different approaches, but in this case saw a common interest and mutually beneficial objectives. Given the distinctive features of the Slow Food Foundation’s approach to its activities in many countries of the Global South—in Africa, South America and Asia—and as a result of its common interest with the FAO regarding some activities in the agrifood area, there have been significant collaborative efforts in recent years. This project is a practical expression of the shared aims. To optimally coordinate activities, attention has focused on West Africa, in particular 4 countries: Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Senegal.
