Kihon moving basics ● double elimination system is used. The winners from the first round will be first and second place, while the top competitor from the second round will be third place.

➢ White, yellow, orange and green stripe ○ Only 5 repetitions forward Oi-zuki (1st round), age uke (2nd round) and alternating.

➢ Blue purple brown and black stripe ○ Only 5 repetitions forward Oi-zuki (1 st ), age uke (2n d) and gedan barai (3r d) and alternating.

The operation procedure ● Competitors shall line up at 2 lines (red / blue markers are used) at the match area perimeter facing the Chief Judge ● When they finished with the performance they wait for the judge’s decision ● Competitors who are winning are staying in the lines, others sit down on both sides and wait for second elimination ● Gold, silver, bronze medals awarded Kumite - little dragons ● A correctly performed technique to any scoring area in principle will be considered a score at a distance up to 10cm. ● Any contact to the jodan area , however slight, in principle will be penalized. ● Even controlled techniques to the body (chudan area) in principle will not be considered a score if they make excessive contact beyond surface touch. ● No sweeping, or other techniques, are allowed. ● The bout duration is one and a half minute and ceiling of 8 points is used. ● The fighting area may be reduced from 8x8 mts. to 6x6 mts. ● Fist guards and mouthguards are compulsory for this division. Facemask and shin guards also can be used.

KATA Rules All (forms) run via charts provided. Only the tatami manager is allowed to make changes to charts. Competitors will perform according to the chart simultaneously with the exception of Advanced divisions ages 12+, which will perform individually. The winner by flags will advance.

Competitors under 7 years of age ( NON-Little Dragons)

Competitors may use the 1st half of any from the Beginner division and may repeat the same kata in every round. Failing to complete their kata should be given the option of a second attempt without impact of the evaluation.

Black belt assistants may help with Taikyoku shodan (Kihon kata ichi) or Heian Shodan

for beginnners, but no other kata.

Advanced divisions may perform any kata from the Official Kata List and may repeat the same kata in every round except for the “medal” round competitors must perform a different kata. Advanced competitors must change kata between medal round and the round prior to that.

Team Kata All three team members must start the Kata facing in the same direction and towards the Chief Judge. In the bouts for medals of Elite Team Kata competition, they shall perform a demonstration of the meaning (Bunkai) of the Kata. The total time allowed for the Kata & Bunkai demonstration combined, is five (5) minutes. The official timekeeper shall start the countdown clock as the team members perform the bow upon starting the Kata and will stop the clock at the final bow after the Bunkai performance.

Family Team Kata Mixed team is allowed and they may perform the same kata in every round or any kata from the Official Kata List.

The contestants must perform all techniques with control and good form. Therefore, any technique that results in injury must be penalized, unless caused by the recipient.

Kumite for children under 11 years of age: ● Any contact to the jodan area , however slight, in principle will be penalized. ● A correctly performed technique to any scoring area in principle will be considered a score at a distance up to 10cm. ● Even controlled techniques to the body (chudan area) in principle will not be considered a score if they make contact beyond surface touch. ● Gum shields and fist guards are compulsory, shin pads and instep protectors a re optional. Facemask and Chest Protector also can be used in this division. ● No sweeping, or other takedown techniques, are allowed. ● The bout duration is one and a half minute and ceiling of 8 points is used. ● The fighting area may be reduced from 8x8 mts. to 6x6 mts. if desired by the organizer of the event.

Kumite for children between 12 and 13 years of age (Jr. Cadet): ● Any contact to the head and neck (Jodan area) , however slight, in principle will be penalized. ● A correctly performed technique to the head or neck in principle will be considered a score at a distance up to 10 cm. ● Gum shields and fist guards are compulsory, shin pads and instep protectors a re

optional. Facemask and Chest Protector also can be used in this division. ● The bout duration is one and a half minute.

Kumite for children between 14 and 17 years of age (Cadet & Juniors): ● A correctly performed technique to the head or neck in principle will be considered a score at a distance up to 10 cm. ● No touch or contact to the head, face, and neck (including face mask) is allowed with hand techniques. ● Any jodan may make the lightest touch (“skin touch”) and still score, however any more than a skin touch will require a warning or penalty unless caused by the recipient (MUBOBI). ● Gum shields, fist guards, shin pads and instep protectors a re compulsory in this division. Facemask and Chest Protector also can be used. ● Red and blue belts must be worn, the bout duration is two minutes.

Adults - Age 18 and over:

● WKF- approved red and blue fist pads, shin pads and instep protectors are cumplosury in this division. ● Non-injurious, light controlled “touch” contact to the face, head and neck is allowed (but not to the throat) with the hand and foot. ● The kumite bout shall be three minutes for males, and females. ● Glasses are forbidden (soft contact lenses may be worn at the contestant’s own discretion). ● Competitors may use a religiously mandated headwear of a type approved by the WKF: a plain black fabric head scarf covering the hair, but not the throat area. ● Red and blue belts must be worn. Jackets must be tied. Jackets without ties may not be used. ● The use of bandages, padding, or supports because of injury must be approved by the Referee on the advice of the Official Doctor. No braces that include any metallic parts shall be used.
