The cost will be $3 per board or 10 for $25. Additional boards may be purchased as needed. • Athletes compete in a side-by-side manor (superior technique advances to the next round) • 90 seconds maximum setup/break time allowed per competitor • Maximum of 10 boards utilized is allowed per competitor, per round of competition • No forehead breaking, open flames, or bladed props may be used • No jumping/flying over people will be allowed • No spacers will be allowed • No direct elbow strikes will be allowed • Athlete technique will be judged based on the following criteria • Technique, focus, balance, power, and creativity • For two competitors executing the same technique as part of competition: • A break performed on the 1st try is superior to a break completed on the 2nd try • A two-board break is superior to a one board break; a three board break is superior to a two board break • A break supported on one end (speed break) is superior to a break supported on both ends (for same number of boards) Olympic Sparring: • All competitors must wear an Olympic style Chest Protector, Headgear, manufactured shin & Instep protectors, Forearm protectors and Mouthguard. • Males are also required to wear groin protection inside of their dobok. • Black Belt Mini-Cadets (10-11) and above will be using KP&P electronic • scoring. • All competitors must use the appropriate KP&P Footgear. The Chest Protectors and headgear for blackbelt divisions will be provided for electronic scoring only. All remaining gear is the responsibility of the Athlete. • Youth (5-9), Mini-Cadet (10-11), Cadet (12-14) and Executive (33 and up) shall compete using three one-minute rounds with a 30-second rest • Junior (15-17) and Senior (18-32) shall compete using three 90- second rounds with a 30 second rest Point Sparring: • Point sparring will be using Brazilian Repchage bracketing • All preliminary matches will be two minutes running time or a 7-point gap, whichever occurs first. If the match runs the full two minutes, the competitor ahead on score will be declared the winner • Point Sparring safety gear is MANDATORY: Head Gear, Hand Gear, Foot Gear and Mouthpiece as specified page 5 of the 2019-2020 AAU Handbook. • A protective groincup for males under the Dobok pants is also required. • Forearm, shin guards and rib guards are optional. Forearm and shin guards must be worn UNDER the uniform. Coaches: • All coaches must take the required AAU Taekwondo Online Coaches Certification Course. Coaches must complete the course and bring proof of certification with them to all AAU Taekwondo events in order to coach. • Proper Coaches Attire is required. NO EXCEPTIONS. Information on this course is available at www.aautaekwondo.org. Awards: • Championship Medals awarded to the top 4 places in each division. Uniforms: • Clean fitting colored uniforms are allowed • No rolled sleeves or cuffed pants. • Black belts are allowed to wear a black V-neck collar or have black trim on the lapels of their uniform. This event is licensed by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc. • All participants must have a current AAU membership. • AAU membership may not be included as part of the entry fee to the event. • AAU Youth Athlete membership must be obtained before the competition begins, except where the event operator has a laptop available with an internet connection. Be Prepared: Adult and Non- Athlete memberships are no longer instant and cannot be applied for at an event. Due to background screenings, please allow up to 10 days for adult memberships to be processed. • Participants are encouraged to visit the AAU website www.aausports.org to obtain their membership. • Competitors may be required to present a valid AAU membership card at time of staging.
