The 2019 campaign is the eighth year for Wilson at the helm of the Bulldog program, a softball program he’s built into one of the best in all of NCAA Division III. The Bulldogs have won six consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Con- ference Championships and have made six straight trips to the NCAA Division III regional tournament. Wilson and his staff have claimed SCAC Coach of the Year honors in five of the last six seasons. On May 19, 2019, in Linfield, Ore., the Bulldogs qualified for their first-ever NCAA Division III Softball National Championship Finals (also known as the DIII Softball World Series) with a 5-2 third-game vicory over Linfield College. The Bulldogs won the best 2-of-3 series to claim the DIII Softball McMinnville, Ore. Super Regional Champion- ship. TLU won the first game of the series 6-5 in 10 innings, dropped the second game 9-7, and won the finale by breaking a 2-2 tie with a three- run sixth. Kelly Jurden drove in the game-winning run and capped the victory with a steal of home (the fifth run for TLU in the game). TLU won its first NCAA DIII Regional Championship by going 3-0 at the 2019 Marshall, Texas Regional. TLU defeated No. 6 Birmingham-South- ern twice and ousted No. 2-ranked and regional host East Texas Baptist. TLU was the NCAA DIII Seguin Regional runner-up in 2018 and the NCAA DIII Tyler Regional runner-up in 2014, 2016 and 2017. The Bull- dogs finished third in the 2015 NCAA DIII Tyler Regional.
