Representation of Haryanvi Culture in Bollywood with Special Reference to Vishal Bhardwaj’S Movie- Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola
© 2018 JETIR September 2018, Volume 5, Issue 9 www.jetir.org (ISSN-2349-5162) REPRESENTATION OF HARYANVI CULTURE IN BOLLYWOOD WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO VISHAL BHARDWAJ’S MOVIE- MATRU KI BIJLI KA MANDOLA Dr.Seema Rana. Department of English, G.M.N.College, Ambala Cantt, Haryana. ABSTRACT- In the context of Haryana, the number of films produced remained very small till 1984. But when Chandrawal was released in March 1984, it created a stir in the film industry. Chandrawal broke all records on the box-office in Haryana, Western U.P., Delhi and parts of Rajasthan . But still, there was a long way to cover to bring the Haryanvi culture on the broad screen. The Bollywood movie Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola provides this much needed platform. An uneven beard, stud in the ears, careless dressing, rowdy walk and a bidi tucked behind the ear- the desi Haryanvi look sported by actor Imran Khan in the movie has got everyone talking about the Bollywood’s newfound love for a rather raucous Haryanvi culture. Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is a political satire produced by Vishal Bhardwaj. He has also directed, co-scripted and scored the music for the film. The movie deals with almost every problem being faced by rural India at the moment. Though the movie did not get much success at the box office, nevertheless it is definitely a bold step by the director Vishal Bhadwaj to bring the culture of Haryana to the big screen. Thus it can be concluded that it has proved to be a creative piece of work in promoting regional voice which has not been heard so far at such a level. -

Water Supply & Sanitation
CHAPTER-3 WATER SUPPLY & SANITATION Delhi Jal Board is responsible for procurement of raw water, its treatment and supply of potable water in Delhi. Delhi Jal Board gives bulk supply of potable water to Delhi Cantonment Board and NDMC for distribution in areas under their respective jurisdictions. Delhi Jal Board supplies drinking water through its water supply distribution network in the area of DMCs comprising of Water Treatment Plants, Transmission mains, peripheral lines and internal water distribution network. Delhi is presently serviced from Ganga basin, Yamuna sub-basin, Indus basin and internal aquifers for raw water supply. These sources are continuously under pressure owing to increasing population. It is expected that population in Delhi will grow to 24.88 million in 2021 and 31.68 million in 2030 from current level of 19 million. These factors are causing the decline in per capita availability of water in the state. At present, water supply available for drinking need is 409.15 crore litre (900 MGD) per day which is maximum production from all the sources and water supply network coverage is around 93%. The main surface source of water is Yamuna, Ravi Bias, Ganga and Ground Water is through Ranney Wells and tubewells. At present Govt. has focused to extend piped water supply network in the unauthorized colonies and during last year, the 55 colonies (Project) were provided water supply. The extension of water supply network is not limited to the unauthorized colonies but also to JJ Clusters, squatters developed by DUSIB and other slums. To ensure safe drinking water to all the houses, it is essential to replace the old water lines which are leaking at various places and causing contamination. -
