An Uncle Bob Production Golden Age of Scifi an Uncle Bob Production Golden Age of SciFi THE SCIFI MOVIE TRAILERS OF 1950 - 1959 Hello and Welcome to Uncle Bud’s Golden Age of Science Fiction Movie Trailers - North American Edition. Enclosed in this box is an 8 gigabyte usb flash drive in the shape of a miniature gold bar. Golden Age… gold bar… get it? Stored on this flash drive is, while not an exhaustive collection, it is definitely a definitive collection of science fiction movie trailers from the 1950’s in an mp4 format encoded at 2500kbps video and audio at 128kbs in stereo and displayed in glorious 480p. Spanning the years 1950 to 1959 this collection of trailers showcases the Golden Age of Science Fiction in the Cinema of North America and Europe. These films include core elements of science fiction, but can cross into other genres. They have been released to a cinema audience by the commercial film industry and are widely distributed with reviews by reputable critics. This period is sometimes described as the ‘classic’ era of science fiction theater. Much of the production was in a low-budget form targeted at a teenage audience. Many were formulaic, gimmicky, comic-book style films. They drew upon political themes or public concerns of the day, including depersonalization, infiltration, or fear of nuclear weapons. Invasion was a common theme, as were various threats to humanity.[1] Two of the films from this decade, The War of the Worlds (1953) and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) won Academy Awards, while Destination Moon (1950) and The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) won Hugo Awards. Sources used for this collection of trailers were Wikipedia, DVDs, You Tube, and the Internet. The equipment used in this endeavor is a heavily modified Dell Inspiron 3847 running an Intel® Core™ i5-4460 Processor, Intel® HD Graphics 4600, 12GB of DDR3 RAM, and a set of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified monitors. Software used in this project was Cyber Link PowerDirector 12, AnyMP4 Video Converter, Adobe Audition 3.0 and Photoshop CS5. 1950 Coun- Subgenre/ Title Director Cast try Notes Warner Anderson, John Archer, Destination Moon Irving Pichel [nb 1] Tom Powers Flying Disc Man from Fred C. Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library White House Communications Agency (WHCA): Videotapes of Public Affairs, News, and Other Television Broadcasts, 1973-77 WHCA selectively created, or acquired, videorecordings of news and public affairs broadcasts from the national networks CBS, NBC, and ABC; the public broadcast station WETA in Washington, DC; and various local station affiliates. Program examples include: news special reports, national presidential addresses and press conferences, local presidential events, guest interviews of administration officials, appearances of Ford family members, and the 1976 Republican Convention and Ford-Carter debates. In addition, WHCA created weekly compilation tapes of selected stories from network evening news programs. Click here for more details about the contents of the "Weekly News Summary" tapes All WHCA videorecordings are listed in the table below according to approximate original broadcast date. The last entries, however, are for compilation tapes of selected television appearances by Mrs. Ford, 1974-76. The tables are based on WHCA’s daily logs. “Tape Length” refers to the total recording time available, not actual broadcast duration. Copyright Notice: Although presidential addresses and very comparable public events are in the public domain, the broadcaster holds the rights to all of its own original content. This would include, for example, reporter commentaries and any supplemental information or images. Researchers may acquire copies of the videorecordings, but use of the copyrighted portions is restricted to private study and “fair use” in scholarship and research under copyright law (Title 17 U.S. Code). CLONES, BONES AND TWILIGHT ZONES: PROTECTING THE DIGITAL PERSONA OF THE QUICK, THE DEAD AND THE IMAGINARY By JosephJ. Beard' ABSTRACT This article explores a developing technology-the creation of digi- tal replicas of individuals, both living and dead, as well as the creation of totally imaginary humans. The article examines the various laws, includ- ing copyright, sui generis, right of publicity and trademark, that may be employed to prevent the creation, duplication and exploitation of digital replicas of individuals as well as to prevent unauthorized alteration of ex- isting images of a person. With respect to totally imaginary digital hu- mans, the article addresses the issue of whether such virtual humans should be treated like real humans or simply as highly sophisticated forms of animated cartoon characters. BAMcinématek presents Ghosts and Monsters: Postwar Japanese Horror, Oct 26—Nov 1 Highlighting 10 tales of rampaging beasts and supernatural terror September 21, 2018/Brooklyn, NY—From Friday, October 26 through Thursday, November 1 BAMcinématek presents Ghosts and Monsters: Postwar Japanese Horror, a series of 10 films showcasing two strands of Japanese horror films that developed after World War II: kaiju monster movies and beautifully stylized ghost stories from Japanese folklore. The series includes three classic kaiju films by director Ishirô Honda, beginning with the granddaddy of all nuclear warfare anxiety films, the original Godzilla (1954—Oct 26). The kaiju creature features continue with Mothra (1961—Oct 27), a psychedelic tale of a gigantic prehistoric and long dormant moth larvae that is inadvertently awakened by island explorers seeking to exploit the irradiated island’s resources and native population. Destroy All Monsters (1968—Nov 1) is the all-star edition of kaiju films, bringing together Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, as the giants stomp across the globe ending with an epic battle at Mt. Fuji. Also featured in Ghosts and Monsters is Hajime Satô’s Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968—Oct 27), an apocalyptic blend of sci-fi grotesquerie and Vietnam-era social commentary in which one disaster after another befalls the film’s characters. First, they survive a plane crash only to then be attacked by blob-like alien creatures that leave the survivors thirsty for blood. In Nobuo Nakagawa’s Jigoku (1960—Oct 28) a man is sent to the bowels of hell after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run that kills a yakuza.

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} The Lions Of Los Angeles by Lilly Pink L.A. Zoo Mourns 'Inseparable' Lion Couple's Death: We're 'Touched by Their Loyal Companionship' A loving pair of zoo lions were both euthanized due to declining health. On Thursday, the Los Angeles Zoo announced that its team made the "difficult decision" to humanely euthanize two African lions, named Hubert and Kalisa, because of "age-related illnesses that diminished their quality of life." The 21-year-old animals lived at the zoo for the last six years of their lives. "Hubert and Kalisa are an iconic part of the L.A. Zoo experience, and our staff and guests have been touched by their loyal companionship," Denise Verret, CEO and zoo director of the L.A. Zoo, said in a press release. "Their longevity is truly a testament to the level of expert care our veterinary and animal care teams provide for our elderly animals." "These lions will remain a positive part of our history, and they will be greatly missed," Verret added. Hubert was born in February 1999 at the Lincoln Park Zoo, and he has since fathered 10 cubs. Kalisa, his long-time companion, was born in December 1998, and the two were moved from the Woodland Park Zoo to Los Angeles in 2014. Though Hubert and Kalisa were long-time companions, they never had cubs together. GUNSMOKE TV CAST AND DETAILS Premiered: September 10, 1955, on CBS Rating: TV-PG Premise: This landmark adult Western centered on Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City. John Wayne turned down the lead, suggesting James Arness (who remained for its entire run). Originating on radio (with William Conrad as Dillon), it moved to TV in September 1955. Its popularity spawned a number of copycats, but none would enjoy the longevity (and few the consistent quality) of this classic. Airing for 20 years, it's TV's longest running prime-time drama (a record that `Law & Order' is currently chasing).
