British flautist Ian Clarke is becoming well-known as a composer of contemporary works for the flute. His compositions capture a wide variety of subjects and moods through the imaginative use of extended techniques. Many younger flautists are now including Ian Clarke’s compositions in their recital programmes. The release of Deep Blue on May 13 showcases some recent compositions by Ian Clarke, performed by the composer with pianist Tim Carey. Soon after its release it became the first flute CD for many years to enter the Classical Artist Charts. Brilliant performances; don’t miss this one. ♫
