We are Nomadic Assistance for Peace and Development (NAPAD) NAPAD envisions a just, peaceful and prosperous society for all

Our mission is to promote sustainable peace and human development amongst vulnerable communities through the advancement of social, economic, ecological and political justice in the Horn of Africa.

We aim at contributing to the realization of lasting peace and human development in target areas through recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Now, in our 15th years NAPAD efforts are focused on ensuring that vulnerable and poverty-stricken communities in the Horn of Africa particularly the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities have equal access to peace, quality life and sustainable development. We achieve this by supporting communities to actively participate and influence socio-economic and political development processes that address the needs of the disadvantaged. Our programmatic and operational presence has been driven by community needs and the desire to continuously improve our effectiveness.

We have now impacted the lives of more than 3 million people

Our focus areas address the needs of communities in Livelihoods and Food Security, Education, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Community Cohesion and Reconciliation, Environmental Management and Advocacy.

Over the years we have worked in Mandera (Kenya), Jubaland, Galmudug and Banadir States of Somalia.

Our challenges are huge, but we have remained steadfast in our pursuit of our vision of just, peaceful and prosperous societies in our target areas of Kenya and Somalia.

Keeping true to our Vision of a just, peaceful and prosperous society for all NAPAD's third strategic plan and provides a strategic path for the period 2019 to 2023. This path supports the objectives for which NAPAD was established which are to: 1. Reduce the impact of disasters by; building resilience through sustainable livelihood platforms. 2. Increase food accessibility and sustainable production infrastructure in drought-stricken communities. 3. Build brighter futures through peace building and education for victims of conflicts and drought.

The overall goal is to expand NAPAD's integrated community transformational model throughout the target regions in Kenya and Somalia and have a model that can be replicated in other areas with similar contexts. This will be achieved through six strategic priority areas of focus namely:

1. Improving Water Sanitation and Hygiene standards within the target communities 2. Sustainable livelihoods for riverine, pastoral and agro-pastoral communities 3. Access to quality and affordable Education 4. Governance and Peace-Building 5. Climate change adaptation and mitigation 6. NAPAD Institution strengthening

NAPAD is adapting to changing contexts affecting the Horn of Africa as with the rest of the world. Impacted by cyclic and devastating climatic events and conflict the horn of Africa is now grappling with the impact of the invasion of the desert locust and COVID 19 Pandemic on livelihoods and food security of the most vulnerable. NAPAD is grateful to see a steady increase in the number of institutional partners who have chosen to partners with us. We are now focused on broadening our donor base and raising adequate funding for the critical sectors mentioned above that serve to improve the wellbeing the most vulnerable in the communities we serve.
