A WORD FROM THE SUPERVISOR...William M. Mayer

Dear Seniors,

You know when the fountains are opened back up, and the trees are William M. Mayer beginning to bloom, and the tulips are beginning to sprout, SPRING has Supervisor finally sprung!!

Patricia Mayoral-Stach May marked the 13th year anniversary for me, here at DuPage Clerk Township. It has truly been an honor and a privilege serving as your Trustees Township Supervisor. These years have been so very enjoyable, and I Alyssia Benford am very much looking forward to serving you for the next 3 years. The Ken Burgess township has accomplished some great things again over the past year and this indeed makes Maripat Oliver me very proud. This means that every department head has come up with bigger and better Dennis Raga ideas to benefit the people of DuPage Township. Gary Hoffman However, the most enjoyable aspect of being supervisor has been my growing relationships with Collector YOU! People are always willing to give their opinions. I truly appreciate this, and always welcome Jean Kelly your comments. Assessor (630) 759-1315 We are the branch of government that is closest to the people, and people look to us for solutions. I challenge the staff to keep doing more by anticipating needs, and empowering the DUPAGE TOWNSHIP department heads to stay on top of things. (630) 759-1317 The awards are nice, but we operate with the opinion of “What have you done lately?” Are the

fax: (630) 759-3412 residents happy? Are those hurt most by the economy getting the services they need? Are we EMAIL saving homes from foreclosure? [email protected] WEBSITE Bottom line: When you come to us, you will leave our doors with a www.dupagetownship.com direction. If we can’t help with the immediate need, we can at least point you to a place you can go.

DUPAGE TOWNSHIP A lot of other townships operate with the ‘business as usual … same THE LEVY as we’ve always done’ mentality”. As long as I am in this position, that SENIOR CENTER won’t happen here. We’re here to watch over our residents. If there is 251 Canterbury Lane an issue that is coming up, I want the township to be on top of it. Bolingbrook, IL 60440 (630) 759-3411 I would also like to take the time to send out a heartfelt thank you to fax: (630) 759-3472 all of those who volunteered their time to Maureen Fox help out wherever and whenever needed. Senior Program Director Your devotion and dedication NEVER goes [email protected] unnoticed, and is greatly appreciated.

Lynne Woodard As always, I look forward to another Senior Recreation Director [email protected] incredible year serving you! Your Supervisor, Bill Mayer DuPage Township Supervisor

THE SHOW & LUNCH ON YOUR OWN WHERE: ORIENTAL THEATRE WHEN: JUNE 27 TIME: 10:30 AM FEE: $96 LIMIT: 25 We’ll begin this afternoon excursion with a trip to Cheddars right here in town. At Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, they’ve been graciously serving made-from-scratch goodness since 1979. Their founders, Aubrey Good and Doug Rogers, believed that when a meal is prepared and cooked fresh just for you, it not only tastes better, it makes you feel good. They use quality ingredients and take the time to prepare them in their kitchen. It’s the right way, not the easy way, because it tastes better that way. And really, isn’t that the point? Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen serves made-from-scratch goodness in a welcoming place. Enjoy Soups, Salads, House Smoked Baby Back Ribs, hand-battered Country Fried Chicken, Scratch Burgers, Homemade Onion Rings, Pastas, and more! Great prices too! Next, we will move on to the Theatre to see a musical showcasing none other than the infamous “CHER.” Superstars come and go. CHER is forever. For six straight decades, only one unstoppable force has flat-out dominated popular culture — breaking down barriers, pushing boundaries, and letting nothing and no one stand in her way. The Cher Show is her story, and it’s packed with so much Cher that it takes three women to play her: The kid starting out, the glam pop star and the icon. The Cher Show is 35 songs, six decades of stardom, two rock-star husbands, a Grammy, an Oscar, an Emmy, and enough gowns to cause a sequins shortage in New York City, all in one unabashedly fabulous new musical!! Guaranteed to be an action-packed day! DON’T MISS OUT! SIGN UP TODAY!! I WILL BE ON VACATION THE FIRST WEEK OF JULY

TASTE OF CHICAGO WHEN: JULY 12 TIME: 10:00 AM FEE: $3 LIMIT: 25 Each summer, a variety of local restaurants and food vendors set up booths in Grant Park for a free festival, offering samples of their most popular dishes. The festival has its own currency—you purchase tickets at the gate which can be spent on food and drinks. The Taste of Chicago that evolved from that steamy July 4th in 1980 is one of the largest tourist attractions in Illinois. This free-admission festival, now in its 36th year, is the place to be, infusing the city with a spirit and attracting lead stories each day in newspapers and on television. It is an impressive scene. Colorfully decorated food booths surround the outside kitchens of more than three dozen restaurants from all over Chicago, which now include Pop-Ups, three booths featuring new restaurants each day, that are also new to Taste. Exotic aromas permeate the air and no visitor leaves a food booth empty handed. Last year’s “Taste” attracted more than one million visitors from all over the city, the suburbs, the Midwest, and the country. Taste underwent a major transformation in 2013 with several new areas that highlight our vast culinary community. In addition to Pop-Ups, the event features Celebrity Chef du Jour, a specially designed air-conditioned dining experience where patrons can receive a sit-down, three-course meal prepared by noted chefs such as Graham Elliot and Stephanie Izard. For festival goers who want to satisfy more than their appetites, a popular attraction is the In the Kitchen with Mariano’s where local chefs, guest stars and our celebrity chefs demonstrate their wares and confide the secrets of their culinary success. Summer in Chicago is built around one event each year, Taste of Chicago, and continues to capture the favorites and the future of Chicago’s restaurant and dining community. Taste of Chicago is the nation’s premier outdoor food festival highlighting the diversity of Chicago’s dining community. The delicious array of food served at Taste of Chicago is complemented by music and exciting activities for the entire family. Every summer since 1980, Chicago’s beautiful Grant Park on the city’s magnificent lakefront has been home to the world’s largest food festival. DON’T MISS OUT!! SIGN UP TODAY!
