Tennis Grand Slam ● The Four annual tennis are collectively called the Grand Slam also known as majors. ● The Grand Slam is operated by the ITF- the International Tennis Federation. ● The Grand Slam tournaments consist of the in mid January, the or around late May, Wimbledon in June end, and the US Open tennis in the end of August. ● All the four Tennis Grand Slam tournaments are played over a period of 2 weeks. ● Wimbledon Tennis is the oldest, founded in 1877,then comes the US Open in 1881 followed by the French Open in 1891, and the last is Australian Open in 1905. ● The Australian tennis and US tournaments are played hard courts, the French Open on clay courts, and Wimbledon on grass courts. ● The French Open tournaments was not considered a Grand Slam before 1924 - 1925 ● Together, all four majors in all three disciplines (singles, doubles, and mixed doubles) are called a "boxed set" of Grand Slam titles ● Winning all four majors during the course of a career is called a career Grand Slam ● Winning the four majors in consecutive tournaments, but not in the same year is called the non-calendar year Grand Slam.
