I am deeply privileged to present before you a brief report of the activities and achievements of St. Thomas College, Palai during the academic year 2019-2020. Due to the time constraint, with your permission, I present only a summary of the report which runs into many pages. I COLLEGE ON THE RE-OPENING DAY The commencement of the new academic year on 6 June 2019 was marked with special prayers and the Blessing of the College by the Principal. II STUDENTS’ STRENGTH (AS ON 01/11/2019) The total student strength including the intake during the current academic year for UG, PG and Ph.D. programmes are 2121, 595, and 154 respectively, which comes to a total of 2870. III STAFF The total staff strength of the College as on 01.11.2019 are as follows: Teaching Staff - 151 (Permanent - aided 83, Guest/Ad hoc - 68) Non-Teaching Staff - 44 (Permanent - 30, Guest - 14) IV UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION RESULTS The College is blessed with very good results, both in UG and PG Examinations during the current academic year. Moreover, our students bagged ranks and distinctions for the various University Examinations conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University during 2018-2019. Ltd.- Project (Dr. Ratheesh M.) : Rs. 3,96,000/- SSP : Rs. 1,07,000/- WWS : Rs. 1,37,600/- Motivational Visit : Rs. 70,000/- Total Rs. 81,18,756/- X SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS  A State Level Two Day Training Programme for PFMS – EAT & DBT Module, was organized by IQAC, St. Thomas College Palai, on 16th and 17th May, 2019. The programme was sponsored by the college management. It was intended to equip faculty in charge of PFMS and administrative staffs of different colleges to effectively manage Central Government and associated agencies’ funds and to familiarise the tracking system better known as “Public Fund Management System (PFMS)”. The resource persons for the two-day training programme were Mr. A Rajesh, Sr. Accounts Officer and Mr. Roy M N, Operation Manager, PFMS, SPMU, . There were 23 participants from different colleges, of which 11 were faculty members and 12 were administrative staffs.  A seminar on Career Prospects Abroad was organized by the Department of Economics for the final year degree students on 17th June, 2019. The objective of the programme was to inform the students the educational and career avenues abroad. Sri. Sinon George, Career Consultant, England, was the resource person. Dr. Joben K. Antony was the co-ordinator of the programme.  Two workshops were organized by the Dept. of Biostatistics on R Programing and SPSS for Biostatistical Data Analysis during 24-25 July and 5-6 August 2019. The resource Person was Dr. Tunny Sebastian, Assistant Professor, College of Medical Sciences, Imam Abdul Rahman Bin Faisal University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  A Workshop on Survival Analysis Methods and Epidemiological Study Designs in Clinical Research was organized by the Dept. of Biostatistics on 3-4 January 2020. Dr. Anil C. Mathew, Professor of Biostatistics at PSGIMSR, Coimbatore was the Resource Person.  Research and Postgraduate Department of Chemistry, St. Thomas College, Palai conducted an Exhibition for college students on 23rd and 24th January 2020. The event consisted of exhibitions, live demos, and hands on experiments. It was intended to cultivate a passion for Chemistry and for inculcating enthusiasm in Science among school students. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Biju M K, the Director of DSS, M.G. University on a function presided over by Rev. Dr. James John Mangalathu, the Principal of the College on 23rd January 2020 at 9.30 am. More than twenty live experiments and many models were arranged in the exhibition. I and II PG Chemistry students of the college conducted and

explained the experiments under the guidance of their teachers. Prof. Jogy Alex, Associate Professor coordinated the programme. Students from Alphonsa College Palai also participated in the same.  On 24th January 2020, the Chemistry Department organized an All Kerala Infotainment Fest for college students, ATMOS 2020 in the campus. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Biju M K , the Director of DSS, M.G. University Kottayam on a function presided by Rev. Dr. James John, the Principal of the College on 23rd January 2020 at 9.30 am. Six events were conducted in various stages under the guidance of the teachers of the Department and our students. More than 250 students from various colleges of Kerala participated in the programme. The concluding ceremony was presided over by our Principal Dr. James John. Prizes worth Rs. 35000 were distributed to the winners.  AROGYA EXPO’20 was conducted on 21st January 2020. Dr. James John, Principal St. Thomas College Palai, introduced the topic of the conference to the audience and welcomed all dignitaries, delegates and students. H. E. Mar Jacob Muricken, Auxiliary Bishop of Palai and the Manager of the College, delivered presidential address. The programme was inaugurated by H.E. Philippe Le Gall, Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles (Retd.). In the Plenary session, Dr. Rajesh Arora, Director –Life sciences- DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of , delivered a talk on the scope of evidence-based phytomedicine to solve the complex military problems posed by VUCA environment. Dr. Ratheesh M, Convener of ICHP-2020 and Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, proposed vote of thanks to all dignitaries, delegates and students. Dr. Saptarshi Banerjea M.D. (Hom.), Allen College of Homoeopathy, Essex, England, gave the scope of clinical efficacy of homoeopathic medicine. The students, researchers and faculties from various Universities, Colleges inside and outside India participated in the conference. Overall we had 5 keynote speakers, one plenary speaker, 14 invited speakers, and 800 participants in the two day conference. Along with this, in the Arogya Expo’20 altogether 2500 students, 1000 natives (from Pala) and 700 visitors (outside Palai) participated.  The Seminar on Parliamentary Democracy in India: Promises and Problems was conducted by the Department of Political Science on 18th February 2020. The Inaugural session was presided over by Dr. James John, Principal, St. Thomas College Palai. Prof. V.J Joseph Ex. M.L.A of Legislative Assembly constituency and former H.O.D, Department of Political Science inaugurated the seminar. The Key note address was delivered by Dr. Reji Varghese Mekkadan, Principal, St. George College Aruvithura. Dr. Michael Warren Sonnleitner, Fulbright Scholar and elected trustee of Portland Community College Board of Directors addressed the gathering on the relevance of Gandhian principles in a parliamentary democracy like India. Women’s Forum 2019-20 In order to support and empower our lady students, Women’s’ Forum is very much active at St. Thomas College Palai. The forum consists of all lady students and teachers of the college. A general body meeting of Women’s forum was held on August 29, 2019. An executive committee was formed and Kumari Punya Mohan, II MA Malayalam was elected as the President of the Forum. The activities for the academic year 2019-20 were inaugurated by Dr. Rosamma Mathew, former Professor, Department of History, K. E. College, Mannanam on 6 September 2019. Women’s Forum conducted several awareness programmes during this academic year. A Legal Awareness programme was conducted on 3 January 2020. Mr. K A Baby, Rtd. District Judge was the chief guest of the programme. Women’s forum joined hands with UBA cell, St. Thomas College

Palai, Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Homeopathy, to conduct a state level awareness programme on “Lifestyle Diseases, Nutrition and Women’s Health” on 20 January 2020. The invited speakers of the programme were Dr. V. K Priyadarsini, District Medical Officer, Dr. Nadam P S, Consultant Psychologist, Seethalayam, Dr. Anjana Chandran and Dr. Uma Devi, Medical Officers, Seethalayam Project.

XI PARAMARSH SCHEME OF UGC UGC had launched the PARAMARRSH SCHEME in July 2019 for mentoring NAAC accreditation aspirant institutions to promote quality assurance in higher educational institutions. The IQAC of the college submitted the project proposal and it was approved vide order F. No. - PARAM-2019-CLG-KER-1632-135 dated 11 Sept 2019 with a total financial support of Rs.30.00 lakhs. The first instalment of Rs. 15.00 lakhs was released to the college in March 2020. The program envisages mentoring 5 Colleges under the mentorship of St. Thomas College, Palai. Our Mentee institutions are (i) BVM Holy Cross College Cherpunkal ii) Mar Augusthinose College Ramapuram (iii) M.E.S. College (iv) Mar Kuriakose College Puthuvely and (v) Marygiri College . The initial discussions were held with the Principals and Managers of the mentee institutions during September - October 2019 and the MOUs were signed with the above mentee institutions on 24 October 2019. Necessary online advice is being rendered by the Accreditation Ambassador Dr. K . K. Jose and necessary information materials and guidelines are also provided time to time to the mentees. The program was formally inaugurated on 02-03-2020 by Dr. Babu Sebastian, former Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam in a meeting presided by the Principal Rev. Dr. James John Mangalathu. The IQAC Coordinator Dr. Sunil C. Mathew delivered the keynote address. Dr. Sunny Kuriakose, Vice-Principal felicitated the gathering. There was active discussion with the delegates from all mentee colleges. Dr. K.K. Jose, the Paramarsh Ambassador, delivered the welcome speech and Rev. Fr. Mathew Kavanadimalayil proposed the vote of thanks. We have already organized orientation programs in (i) M.A. College Ramapuram on 5-11-2019 (ii) M.E.S. College Erattupetta on 15-02-2020 (iii) BVM College Cherpumkal on 05-02-2020 and (iv) M.A. College Ramapuram on 19-03-2020. All mentee institutions have formed IQACs and initiated activities for quality improvement leading to NAAC accreditation before Dec 2021. XII MoU- MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING In the academic year 2019-2020 the Department of History signed a MoU with four Colleges- St. Dominic’s College , Alphonsa College Palai, St Thomas College and Henry Baker College Melukavu. It was an agreement to conduct academic lectures and joint events. As part of the MoU faculties from the above mentioned colleges visited our Department and took sessions on various topics. XIII SPORTS AND GAMES  Sujoy Dutta of II DC History represented India team in the 19th Asian U-20 Volleyball Championship held at Bahrian. He was also selected to represent the Kochi Blue Spikers Volleyball team in the inaugural Pro Volley League held at various venues during the month of February 2019.  Tijin T S of II DC Economics, Secured GOLD MEDAL in the KHELO India Youth Games held at Pune from 9-18th January 2019 in the event of 4 x 400 M Relay. He also got BRONZE MEDAL in the KHELO in the event of 400M Hurdles

 STC became champions consecutively for third year in a row at the Mahatma Gandhi University intercollegiate inter zone championship held at KE College Mannanam in the semifinal round robin league matches. STC defeated St. George College Aruvithura for (3- 1), St. Peters Kollenchery (3-1) and CMS Kottayam (3-2). In the competition 5 of our students were selected to represent MGU volleyball team for the All India Inter University Volleyball Championship held at SRM University Chennai and Kanpur University, Kanpur. The students selected were John baby III DC Politics, Akshay III DC Politics, Afsal P. P., I DC B.Sc. Sports, Sujoy Dutta, I DC History, Rithuraj, IInd DC English. Sri. Ashish Joseph, Assistant Professor and Sri. S. Manoj acted as the team Manager and Coach of Mahatma Gandhi University respectively.  MGU South Zone inter collegiate shuttle badminton championship was conducted by St. Thomas College, Palai at the Indoor stadium on 22nd and 23rd September 2019. 23 colleges participated in the competition. Marian College Kuttikkanam, St. Thomas College, Palai, St. Dominic Kanjirappally and S.B. Changanacherry secured first, second, third and fourth places respectively and qualified for inter zone badminton championship.  In the inter zone competition, St. Thomas College for the first time in its history, stood Runners Up in the Mahatma Gandhi University Inter Collegiate Competition held at Bharat Matha College, Trikkakara. Anuraj, Alex B. Mathew, Amal Krishna, Dennis, Vivin O V, Jobin Johny and Solomon were the team members of STC.  College men Yoga team became second Runner-up in MGU intercollegiate yoga championship held at St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulum. Open Gymnasium A new concept of Open Gymnasium, which is fast catching up in the country, was introduced in the campus. Our college is the first aided college in Kerala to adopt this concept. College with the help of philanthropists installed a 16 station all season open gymnasium for the college students, teachers, staff and the public. Designed over an area of 1300 sq. ft, the project is envisaged with providing all possible support to the students and the public to engage in physical activity to maintain their overall wellness. 2. The Painting works of the College building are finished. 3. Construction work for new class rooms and laboratory block for B.Voc. Programmes was completed. 4. Swimming Pool  Tile-re-grouting with epoxy work was completed.  Under water light maintenance work was completed.  Cleaning works were completed. 5. Indoor Stadium  Sidewall re-painting work was completed. 6. Online attendance system was started and became fully functional. 7. Installed a new LCD TV and a Digital Sinage in A Block for digitally displaying announcements, notices and college’s daily activities. 8. Library  Stock verification was completed.  Computers were purchased (one touch screen)  Bar Code printer was installed. 9. 15 waste baskets are fixed in the college campus in association with Federal Bank, Pala Branch.

XV RANKING  Immediate Preparations for the next cycle of NAAC accreditation has already started.  The College has participated in NIRF Ranking 2019. The College is ranked in 150-200 bands at All India Level. The College has registered for NIRF Ranking 2020 and data submission was completed. XVI N.S.S., N.C.C., Career and Placement Cell, Department Associations etc. were very active with various programmes. XVII STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENTS  Alka Maria Simon, I PG English student of our college was selected winner in the Grand Finale of Federal Bank Speak for India –Kerala Edition 2019 competition with a cash prize of Rs. 200000. The college was also awarded Rs. 25000.

Edwin J Vadakkan was selected as the best firer from Kottayam group.  Our unit won second position in Inter-Company Guard competition at Public School, Marangattupilly.  SUO Jomy Thomas attended OTA KAMPTEE SSB Screening Camp held at KAMPTEE  Sgt. Alan Kuriakose was selected as the best Cadet of Kottayam Group. NCC - Naval Wing  Celebrated World Environment Day on 05/06/2019, by planting saplings in the College campus. 30 cadets participated.  Conducted World Yoga Day on 21/06/2019, and 36 cadets participated.  Conducted Blood Donation Camp on 05/09/2019. Donated 52 units of blood to District Hospital, Kottayam  15 cadets participated in the Annual Training Camp conducted at S.A. College Edathuva from 14/09/2019 to 23/09/2019.  Cadet Adthiyan M.A. participated in the All India Nav-Sainik Camp at Vishakhapatanam from 02/10/2019 to 15/10/2019.  Conducted Tourism Development Rally on 27/09/2019 from Arunapuram to Palai and 31 cadets participated in the rally.  Cleaning of K.S.R.T.C. bus station, Pala was conducted on 02/10/2019 in connection with the ‘Swatch Bharat Pakwada’ programme in which 33 cadets participated.  Cadet Davis Sebi, Cadet Abhijith K.S., Cadet Augustine Siby and Cadet Sreyas Mohan participated in the Pre-Republic Day I Camp from 06/10/2019 to 16/10/2019 at C.R.P.F. Students Achievements (NSS)  37 NSS volunteers of St. Thomas College Palai were selected for the special police officers duty for the Loksabha Election held on 23rd April 2019. XVIII UNIVERSITY YOUTH FESTIVAL 2020 The performance of our students in the Mahatma Gandhi University Youth Festival 2020 was commendable and they bagged prizes and grades for various events. 50 students participated in the Youth Festival and our college secured 5th position in the University level. Ramdas K. S. (II MA History) was selected as Kalaprathibha and he bagged two First A Grade (Bharathanatyam (Male) and Kathakali), two Second A Grade (Keralanatanam and Kuchipudi) and one Third A Grade (Folk Dance). In literary items Nikhil Thankappan (III DC Malayalam) secured First A Grade in Poetry Writing (Malayalam) and Short Story Writing (Malayalam). Harikrishnan P R (I DC Physics) bagged the First position with A Grade for Elocution (English) and Poetry Recitation (Hindi). Our quiz team got Third prize with A Grade. The team members were Albin Binoy (I PG Economics), Shelvin Thomas Jacob (I PG Economics) and Julian Tom Job (II PG English). The first one was by the First Step Public School Batlagundu, Tamilnadu for the position of teachers on 17/01/2020 and the second one was a pooled recruitment drive by Syngene International, Bangalore, for the position of Research Associate on 28/02/2020. In the final selection to the First Step Public School, five students from the Departments of Commerce, Economics and Physics were selected. The drive by Syngene International was purely for M.Sc. Chemistry students and 12 students from our college were shortlisted for the final selection round from a total participation of 159 students from around 25 colleges. The Cell also arranged students’ participation in different pooled campus recruitment drives conducted at different colleges and centres. A summary of the placements is given below.

Catechism classes for catholic students, moral classes for non catholic students, Holy Mass on all First Fridays, weekly Adoration of the Holy Eucharist, October Devotion and 10 days Rosary etc. were held. XXI ALUMNI ACTIVITIES  A Merit cum Excellence Scholarship was instituted by 'Pala St. Thomas College Old Students' Association (PASTCOS) Kuwait Chapter' and the scholarship for the year 2019- 2020 was awarded to financially weaker students in the UG and PG programmes of St. Thomas College. The scholarship amount for UG and PG programmes were Rupees 3000/- and 4000/- respectively. During 2019-2020, 5 scholarships were given to UG and 2 scholarships were given to PG students.  An Intercollegiate Quiz competition was sponsored by College Alumni on 13/12/2018. A prize of amount of Rs. 10000/- was distributed.  Scholarship distribution sponsored by Indian Jeevakarunya Trust worth Rs. 30,000/-was held in the college and scholarships were distributed to 20 of our students.  69th Foundation Day was celebrated on 07 August 2019. University were Guests of Honours on the occasion.  St. Thomas College Alumni Association Day Celebration and the Distribution of George Thomas Kottukappally Award were conducted on 4 October 2019. St. Thomas College, Palai, has identified the overall wellness of its staff and students as its best practice. Infrastructural development in this direction has been tremendous. The college also conducts various programmes to foster the psychic, physical and spiritual wellbeing of its stakeholders. On 18 October, 2019, the college, in collaboration with Mar Sleeva Medicity, Palai, organized a medical camp and Health Awareness Seminar for its teaching and non-teaching staff. The medical camp was conducted in the college auditorium from 10 a.m. Dr. Joy Mani MD (Senior Consultant, General Medicine), Dr. Pius K.A. MD (Senior Consultant, General Medicine) and Dr. Jaisy Thomas MD (Consultant, Pulmonology) led the medical camp. Ten nursing and supporting staff assisted the physicians. One hundred staff members availed themselves of the facilities of the camp. Body Mass Index calculation, Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar Monitoring, Pulmonological checkup etc. were done. The staff members underwent diagnostic procedures and received prognostic suggestions. The camp was followed by a medical seminar in the afternoon at St. Joseph’s Hall. The inaugural session of the seminar was held at 2.30 p.m. with a prayer song by Dr. Tejil Thomas. College Bursar Fr. Mathew Kurian Kavanadimalayil welcomed the gathering. The meeting was presided over by Dr. James John Mangalathu, Principal of the college. Rev. Msgr. Abraham Kollithanathumalayil, Vicar General, Diocese of Palai, inaugurated the seminar. Dr. Lissy Thomas, Medical Director, Mar Sleeva Medicity, Palai, delivered the Keynote Address. Dr. Sunny Kuriakose, College Vice-Principal, thanked the participants. Dr. Joy Mani, in his seminar talk, spoke at length on lifestyle diseases. A dynamic discussion session ensued the talk. The programme ended at 4.30 p.m. Pro-Vision 2019 was a programme organized by St. Thomas College, Palai, in tune with Wellness Promotion which has been identified as the best practice of the institution. In connection with our project of fostering the wellness of all the stakeholders and the community at large, we have been envisioning diverse provisions for the staff and students. Pro-Vision 2019 was an ophthalmological diagnostic camp organized by the IQAC of the college in collaboration with Edimannickal Opticals, a leading optical firm at Kottayam with own optometric lab and facilities. The programme started at 10 am on 24 October in Room No. A1-10. Rev. Dr. James John Mangalathu, Principal of the college, inaugurated the Programme. Ninety-three members of the teaching and non-teaching staff underwent eye testing procedures. People with vision variations were given suggestions for further treatment or optometric correction. Three qualified optometricians from Edimannickal Opticals conducted the programme. The programme ended at 4 pm. Rev. Dr. Salvin K. Thomas, Dr. Siby James and Dr. Babu Jose were the organizers of the programme. XXIII SUMMER COACHING CAMP FOR CHILDREN IN APRIL/MAY 2019 The College conducted the summer coaching camp for the children below the age of 18 years in the events of Swimming, Badminton, Tennis and Football. The camp began on 2nd April 2019 and continued till the end of May. Different batches were there in morning and evening session for swimming. Altogether around 350 students participated in the coaching camp in different games. Qualified and competent coaches led the sessions. Mostly game specific skill and fitness were focussed during the training sessions. Jose (Former Principal and Professor of Statistics & Biostatistics, St. Thomas College Palai) and published by Ane Books Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi was released by H.E. Mar Jacob Muricken. Both teachers were felicitated and congratulated by presenting ponnadas. Ms Anna Maria Moncy and Ms. Ligy Anna Varghese also addressed the gathering.

XXIX NUMBER OF WORKING DAYS LOST DUE TO STUDENTS’ STRIKE  During 2019-2020 – 1 strike XXX EXTENSION ACTIVITIES  Flood Relief: House construction: The Department of Commerce, under a scheme named 'Rebuild Home Challenge' constructed a home for one of our students whose house was ravaged completely by the flood of August 2018. The construction was completed and the key of the new house was handed over to her family by HE Mar Joseph Kallarangattu, Patron of our college on 01 June 2019. The cost of the new house was Rs. 700000/-, which was collected by the efforts of commerce students, and by contributions of teachers, alumni and other benefactors.  Charitable Activities o College gives free meals to over 20 students. On all Fridays the students donate Lunch for the inmates of Mariasadanam. During extreme necessities, special collections are made among the staff and students to take care of the poor and ailing students, non- teaching staff and their family members.  History Association of St. Thomas College, Palai along with Department of Social Forestry Panchayath and Elikkulam Grama Panchayath conducted an extension programme 'VAZHIYORATHANAL' on 3 October 2019. XXXI AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON COVID 19 PREVENTION HELD The Biostatistics students organized a Campaign on COVID Prevention during February 2020. Students prepared various slides and posters highlighting the causes of Corona disease and explained the preventive measures. It was formally inaugurated on 28th February 2020 by Smt. Mary Dominic, Chairperson of Palai Municipality in the presence of Municipal Councilors namely, Sherin Puthett and Biju Paloopadavan and all our faculty members. Dr. K. K. XXXV BEST PUBLISHED RESEARCH PAPER AWARD  Dr. Sunil C. Mathew (Dept. of Mathematics), Dr. Biju K.C. (Dept. of Economics), Dr. Bince Mani (Dept. of Botany) and Dr. Sajeev Martin (Dept. of Chemistry) are selected as the Best Published Research Paper Awardees of the faculty during 2015-2017.  Dr. Ison V. Vanchipurackal (Dept. of Physics), Dr. Tejil Thomas (Dept. of Commerce) are selected as the Best Published Research Paper Awardees of the faculty during 2018-2019. XXXVI MANAGER’S VISIT Our Manager H.E. Mar Jacob Muricken spent two days, 30-31 of October 2019 in the campus and personally interacted with all the members of the teaching and non-teaching staff. XXXVII MERIT DAY CELEBRATIONS The academic Year 2019-20 was a Jewel on the crown of St. Thomas on account of the great achievement in the sphere of academics. Over 82 MG University ranks were amassed by the students of St. Thomas, 43 of our students cleared JRF/NET/CSIR examinations and 29 of our students secured PhD in different branches. Many of our students excelled in co-curricular and extracurricular fields too. To felicitate the toppers and achievers Merit Day was celebrated on 10 February 2020. The Merit Day celebration was presided over by His Excellency Mar Joseph Kallarangatt, the Patron of the College and the Key-note speaker was Dr. Sabu Thomas, the Vice Chancellor of the M. G. University, Kottayam. XXXVIII TEACHERS AND NON-TEACHING STAFF RETIRED  This year seven of our professors retired from service after more than 25 years of sincere service. Dr. K.M. Kurian (HoD, Statistics), Sri. Raju Thomas (HoD, Physical Education), Dr. Jose K. Xavier (Chemistry), Dr. P.D. George (Hindi), Dr. Benny Kurian (Statistics), Sri. Franci Mathew (HoD, English), Dr. P.J. Benny (HoD, Zoology) retired during the academic year 2019-2020.  Sri. Joy George (Senior Superintendent) and Sri. Benny Mathew (Library Asst,) also retired during the academic year 2019-2020. I wish all of them very active and fruitful retired life. XXXIX COVID 19 Due to Covid 19 Pandemic and the consequent lock-down, the academic schedule was disrupted. Regular classes for the academic year were suspended on the 6th of March 2020. University exams were continued until 20th March. The teachers resorted to online mode of teaching to complete their remaining portions. Students were permitted to the campus with strict adherence to the Covid Protocol. Against this backdrop our Biostatistics department conducted awareness programmes for the general public. The Department of Hindi distributed hands-outs in Hindi depicting the seriousness of the Pandemic and the precautions to be adopted to the Hindi-Speaking Migrant workers of Meenachil Region. Our former staff members Prof. T.S. Joseph, Department of Physical Education, Dr. Saji Kuriakose Junior Lecturer (formerly), Department of Physics left us for eternal abode. From our former non-teaching staff Sri. T.P. Sebastian Thundiparampil (Mechanic), Sri. K.O. Varkey (Superintendent), Sri. N.M. Mathew Nedumgottil (Librarian) were also called to eternal rest in this academic year. All of them had worked most sincerely for the College in various capacities. Let us remember them gratefully and pray for the repose of their souls. XLI CONCLUSION On this occasion I gratefully remember the co-operation and goodwill extended by the Management, members of the faculty and non-teaching staff, students, parents, alumni, media and the public. Special thanks are due to H.E. Mar Joseph Kallarangatt, Patron of the College, H.E. Mar Jacob Muricken, Manager of the College, H.E. Joseph Pallckaparampil, former Patron; and all members of the Managing Board for their encouragement, support and valuable advice.
