Office of the Director of Higher Secondary Education, Housing Board Buildings, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram CG&AC/15463/2012 Dated: 10.07.2014 CIRCULAR Sub : Scouts and Guides –Training for Scout Masters and Guide Captains-reg Ref : G.O (M S)14/2014/Gl.Edn date 15.01.2014 As per reference cited, Government has accorded sanction to start Scouts and Guides unit in Higher Secondary Schools. Accordingly 400 Schools were provisionally selected for starting Scouts and Guides. Units will be sanctioned to schools only after the successful completion of the Basic Training for Scout Master/Guide Captain by the teacher. The Second batch of training is scheduled to conduct from 17 th July to 23 rd July 2014 at State Training Centre, Kerala State Bharat Scouts and Guides, Palode, Thiruvananthapuram. A teacher selected as Scout Master and a lady teacher selected as Guide Captain of the selected schools (list attached) should attend the seven days residential programme. The selected teacher should not be in charge of Career Guidance unit, Souhrida Club, NCC, NSS and SPC. The teachers in-charge of Career Guidance/Souhrida Clubs should not be changed to Scouts/Guides without prior permission of the Director, Higher Secondary Education. Participants should be in correct and complete uniform as given below: Scout Master Shirt : A steel grey shirt with two patch pockets with shoulder straps with half sleeves Pants : Navy Blue Pants with loop at 2 inches Head Dress : Dark blue baret cap with official cap badge. Black Socks and Black Shoes with lace may be worn. Scarf and woggle will be given from the centre for the training purpose only. Belt : Grey Nylex, belt with official buckle of Bharat Scouts and Guides If females are Scout Masters Sarees and Blouse : Steel grey Saree made of plain non transparent material, a steel grey blouse made of plain non transparent material with two patch pockets, half sleeves 8 cm about the elbow with turned up stitched down cuffs 4 cms, wide open sports collar with epaulettes on both shoulder. The blouse shall not be tight fitted. Cap and cap badge are not needed. For Guide Captains Sarees and Blouse : Deep sky blue Saree made of plain non transparent material, a White blouse made of plain non transparent material with two patch pockets, half sleeves 8 cm about the elbow with turned up stitched down cuffs 4 cms, wide open sports collar with epaulettes on both shoulder. The blouse shall not be tight fitted. Cap and cap badge are not needed. The participants should bring following items with them 1. Light Bedding 2. Torch 3. Plate and Glass 4. Writing Materials 5. 3 meter cotton rope of 1cm diameter for the use in the camp The participants should reach the venue at 9am on 9th July 2014. The State Training Centre, Palode is 34 Kms North East from Trivandrum. Direct buses are coming from Trivandrum to Palode (Via) Nedumangad/Thenkasi. Those who are coming from north middle through M.C Road can get down at Kilimanoor KSRTC Bus station. There are buses to Palode (Via) Karate, Kallara, State Training Centre is very near to KSRTC Bus Station, Palode. An amount of Rs 350/- has to be remitted at the time of reporting at training centre. The amount can be met from the PTA fund of the school. For more details regarding the training, the participants contact District Secretaries of Bharat Scouts and Guides. List of District Secretaries attached. Scouts/Guides units are sanctioned to schools on completion of the Basic Training Course of Scout Masters/Guide Captains. The Scouts/Guides units in the school will exist only if the trained person will continue till the end of the academic year. Principals are advised to select the teacher for Scouts/Guides, only if they continue in the same school till the end of the academic year. Units will not be sanctioned to Schools if teachers are not present and not successfully completed the training programme.
