Wed Spooky Songs Family Workshop 1st Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. Meet in the Learning Centre. Creating spooky songs in a family workshop inspired by the sights, sounds and stories of Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. Come in Hallowe'en fancy dress for a session which will include singing, play and exploring the spooky past of Abbeydale through songwriting. Fri Half Term Pony Care Playscheme 3rd Whirlow Hall Farm Children will get involved with grooming, tack cleaning, mucking out and taking our Shetland pony for a walk. Each child will ride one of our gentle ponies and take part in our Hobby Horse Olympics (back by popular demand!). Fri Halloween Cinema 3rd Whirlow Hall Farm 2.30pm – 6.30pm & 7.00pm – 11.00pm The spooky season is just around the corner and the Village Screen are celebrating in style by transforming the lambing barn at Whirlow Hall Farm into a stunning Halloween cinemato show ‘Hocus Pocus’ and ‘Beetlejuice’. There will be live music provided by Sheffield's Labelship before each screening plus street food traders Cow Boys Burgers, Pie Eyed and Livvy's Ice Cream. The Village Screen bar will be open serving prosecco, wine, cocktails, craft beers, soft drinks, hot drinks, popcorn and fresh doughnuts. Mon Friends of Bishop’s House: ‘Flowing Through Time – Sheffield’s River Don’ 6th Bishop’s House, Norton Lees Lane 7.30pm – 9.00pm Rising on the moors to the north-west of Sheffield and flowing over 70 miles before merging with the waters of the Ouse at Goole, this is the river that has shaped Sheffield’s history. The Don has in turn been moulded and transformed by the demands placed upon it. Supplying water-power to literally turn the wheels of industry and becoming Sheffield’s transport route to the sea, the very nature of the river has been altered over centuries. Following the course of the Don, this presentation by Mike Spick highlights sights and places that have survived these many changes and those which are now just memories. (No charge indicated)
