900 Years of History The Augustinian Priory at Cold Norton was officially founded in 1148. The Priory was dissolved in 1507 and was gifted by Henry VII to the Church who in turn granted the estate to Brasenose College, Oxford. The house as it stands today is the result of a rebuilding of the ruined property by the college around 1520. It was used as a temporary residence by fellows of the college during plague years. The ruins of the C12th Priory were still visible in 1729 when they were engraved (pictured), together with the house, by S & N Buck.

Cold Norton Priory is beautifully positioned in open countryside near the peaceful village of Heythrop in prime rural Oxfordshire. The area is renowned for its delightful and undulating countryside and the house sits in a wonderfully secluded position, with a pretty valley running away from it.
