  • List of Directv Channels (United States)
List of DirecTV channels (United States) Below is a numerical representation of the current DirecTV national channel lineup in the United States. Some channels have both east and west feeds, airing the same programming with a three-hour delay on the latter feed, creating a backup for those who missed their shows. The three-hour delay also represents the time zone difference between Eastern (UTC -5/-4) and Pacific (UTC -8/-7). All channels are the East Coast feed if not specified. High definition Most high-definition (HDTV) and foreign-language channels may require a certain satellite dish or set-top box. Additionally, the same channel number is listed for both the standard-definition (SD) channel and the high-definition (HD) channel, such as 202 for both CNN and CNN HD. DirecTV HD receivers can tune to each channel separately. This is required since programming may be different on the SD and HD versions of the channels; while at times the programming may be simulcast with the same programming on both SD and HD channels. Part time regional sports networks and out of market sports packages will be listed as ###-1. Older MPEG-2 HD receivers will no longer receive the HD programming. Special channels In addition to the channels listed below, DirecTV occasionally uses temporary channels for various purposes, such as emergency updates (e.g. Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike information in September 2008, and Hurricane Irene in August 2011), and news of legislation that could affect subscribers. The News Mix channels (102 and 352) have special versions during special events such as the 2008 United States Presidential Election night coverage and during the Inauguration of Barack Obama.

  • WXYZ in Detroit Wins NABJ Award for Bounce Detroit On-Air Special
WXYZ in Detroit wins NABJ award for Bounce Detroit on-air special Aug. 15, 2019 CINCINNATI – WXYZ in Detroit, an ABC affiliate of The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP), has been honored by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) with its Salute to Excellence Award. The NABJ awards honor exemplary coverage of African Americans and highlight the work of media organizations and individuals involved in digital, print, television, radio, photojournalism, podcasting, public relations and marketing categories. The NABJ announced the award winners Saturday at its annual convention and career fair, which took place this year in Miami, Florida. The award was given for WXYZ’s on-air special, “Spotlight on the News: Inside Michigan’s African American Vote,” in the television top 15 market category for “public affairs interview/discussion.” The special aired on Bounce Detroit in October 2018 and explored the issues voters were facing in the election and the role of the African-American vote on the future of Michigan. Bounce TV, part of Scripps’ Katz Networks, launched in 2011 and is the first and only African- American broadcast network on over-the-air television, featuring original dramas and off-network series, movies, specials, live sports and more. “This honor from NABJ demonstrates the power of local journalism to add important context to issues – both local and national – of critical importance to the diverse communities it serves every day,” said Scripps President and CEO Adam Symson. “We are incredibly proud of this collaborative reporting project and the teams at WXYZ and Bounce TV for their commitment to give light to underreported issues across the country.” The “Spotlight on the News” special included conversations with political experts, award-winning journalists, civil rights activists, religious leaders and the leaders of Michigan’s Democratic and Republican parties.

Wilson Policy Counsel Matthew F. Wood Policy Director Free Press 1025 Connecticut Avenue, Suite 1110 Washington, DC 20036 202-265-1490 December 21, 2012 SUMMARY AND INTRODUCTION Free Press respectfully submits these comments in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s recently released report on the ownership of commercial broadcast stations (Form 323 Summary Report). As that report shows, and as the Commission acknowledged when it sought further comment, women and people of color hold broadcast licenses “in disproportionately small numbers.” 1 The record in this proceeding and in prior ownership reviews demonstrates conclusively that increased media consolidation and concentration work to keep those numbers low – harming rather than helping diversity of ownership, diversity of viewpoint, and the other public interest goals that the Commission’s policies purport to serve. We appreciate the opportunity to comment on the report, though the truncated comment cycle coming after the Chairman’s office circulated a draft Order leads us to believe this is an exercise in optics, not a serious attempt to give consideration to this critical issue. 2 The Commission, which afforded the public an additional comment period only after interested parties stressed the need for further analysis, characterized itself as “going the extra mile for transparency” as it concluded the 2010 Quadrennial Review.3 However, the Commission has hardly gone the extra mile.
