Monthly Council Report December 2019 Division County Council Cllr Rob Gough

Welcome to my report for December 2019 I have now been doing these reports for the past year. A lot has certainly changed in that time, but the feedback I have been getting has been pretty positive. There are a mix of updates this month, and like I said in the previous update, I will be avoiding talking about the General Election on 12th December. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a lovely time with family and friends over the holiday period.

Route 4 Stanton Cross is now complete In a significant development for the growth of Stanton Cross, the Route 4 road including the bridge next to Station. The whole of Stanton Cross now has a direct route into the centre of Wellingborough, and will allow the continued expansion of the site. With the development now on course, this should ensure that housing is delivered for the Borough of Wellingborough, and somewhat help our villages from speculative planning applications from developers. NCC Budget 2020/2021 The likely final budget for NCC for next year is now out for consultation. This budget will include £23.2 million in savings, a net budget of £447.71 million, and a council tax increase of 3.99%. It will also include a 4% pay rise for NCC staff who have had several years of pay freezes. The budget is now out for consultation until 24th December, so please do have a look and comment on the proposals. You can see them here.

East Midlands Railway Consultation Railways is currently doing a consultation on changes to the Timetable which will come into force in December 2020. If you are a regular user of the line, or have any interest in our local rail service from Wellingborough, Kettering or Corby, please do not hesitate to complete consultation. You can complete the consultation here.

Repair of Streetlights I recently assisted a constituent with the repair of a broken streetlight to the rear of Earls Barton Fire Station. There appeared to be some confusion over the maintenance of the light as although it was under the control of NCC, it was not under their current maintenance contract. Fortunately this anomaly has been rectified and the light has been repaired and will be replaced in the new year. If you have any issues with lights in your area. Please do not hesitate to get in touch. I'm always happy to bring back the light.

Northants Warm Homes Fund The Borough Council of Wellingborough are supporting the Northants Warm Homes fund to help install full funded first time gas central heating to 1,400 homes across the County. Please see the information leaflet for more information And Finally Earlier in November, I attended the opening party of Unit 21, the new home for Golden Years. Golden Years have been doing some fantastic work for older people locally, and it's great to see how the charity has been built from the ground up to the point where they now have a new base at Nene Court in Wellingborough. I look forward to visiting again soon.
