EVENT SUMMARY THANK YOU FROM DEMPSEY CENTER PATRICK DEMPSEY EXPANSION IN 2018 To Dempsey Challenge participants, sponsors, volunteers, donors and the Lewiston-Auburn community: I can’t adequately express how grateful all of us at the Dempsey Center are for your support of the 9th Annual Dempsey Challenge. It is remarkable what we can accomplish when we come together and work toward a common goal. This event is a wonderful example of unity and positivity in today’s hectic world. From the participants who raised over $1.2M for the Dempsey Center; to the passionate, helpful volunteers who donated their time; to our generous corporate partners who help cover event costs; to the thousands of donors, spectators, local businesses and community members — you all play an integral and important part in the success of the Dempsey Challenge. We hope you take pride and ownership in this event and recognize the huge difference you’re making for individuals and families impacted by cancer. I am so proud to be from this community, proud of the work the Dempsey Center is doing, and proud to come home. I also look forward to hosting the Dempsey Challenge in Lewiston for many more years to come. Public Information and Outreach A) Awareness and Press • Press – This month, Efficiency Maine was mentioned or featured in relevant press coverage on: o The recently approved legislation that allocates the $1.1 billion of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds Maine will receive in The Maine Wire; o The City of Portland’s proposal to begin charging EV drivers to use municipal EV plugs, as well as charge them extra for staying plugged in too long after a charge is complete, in the Portland Press Herald; o The municipal project plans of Auburn township, using ARPA relief funds and grant money from Efficiency Maine in the Sun Journal and Yahoo!News; o Establishing a publicly owned Maine utility in the Portland Press Herald; o LD528, legislation that adopts state targets for energy storage, and Efficiency Maine’s role in implementing the bill’s provisions, in Energy Storage News; o An impending electric utility conservation rate decrease from Versant Power in Mainebiz; and, o Efficiency Maine’s role in the administration of settlement funds from the New England Clean Energy Corridor (NECEC) project in the Penobscot Bay Pilot.
