Previously, it was considered en- demic to Yunnan Province, China. The present report extends its distribution range ca. 760 km west- ward. A brief description of the plant along with photographs and a distribution map are provided to fa- cilitate its unambiguous identification in the future. Key words: flora of India,Ixora yunnanensis, new locality, rheophyte Ixora L. The research work carried out extraction of Ixora coccinea plant, qualitative and quantitative analysis of Ixora coccinea plant extracts, antioxidant activity by DPPH method. Preliminary qualitative phytochemical screening gives a clue for the medicinal aptitude of the herb. In the conducted study bioactive compounds that impart biologically active nature to the plant were screened and results ensured the presence of phytochemical parameters phenols, alkaloids, flavonoids, terepnoids, coumarins, tannin, saponin, anthocynin, anthraquinone and amino acids. Vol. 11, no. 3 (2018) 169–177 | ISSN: 1876-9055 | e-ISSN: 2212-7283 Laborious Transformations: Plants and Politics at the Bogor Botanical Gardens ANDREAS WEBER* & ROBERT-JAN WILLE** ABSTRACT Contributors to this theme issue examine the history of the life sciences at the Botanical Gardens in Bogor (Kebun Raya Bogor) in Indonesia. Each of the essays in this theme issue focusses on a major transformation that the garden, its networks, and staff underwent in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Before summarizing individual contributions, this introductory essay familiarizes readers with more recent scholarship in the field. Taken together, the essays in our theme issue suggest that the practice of the life sciences at the Gardens can be best analyzed as the outcome of historical processes of coordination and competition in which different disciplines, communities, and networks not only in insular Southeast Asia but also other parts of the world played a formative role. Even if one focusses only on the colonial period and lea- ves aside the period after the Indonesian Revolution, the Gardens’ history enhances our understanding of the complex relationship between evolving colonial science practices and varying forms of imperial politics. The historical relationship between the botanical garden’s political organization and practices to study plants can be best described as co- evolutionary. Razafimandimbison, [email protected] Abstract Many monotypic genera with unique apomorphic characters have been difficult to place in the morphology-based classifications of the coffee family (Rubiaceae). We rigorously assessed the subfamilial phylogenetic position and generic status of three enigmatic genera, the Seychellois Glionnetia, the Southeast Asian Jackiopsis, and the Chinese Trailliaedoxa within Rubiaceae, using sequence data of four plastid markers (ndhF, rbcL, rps16, trnTF). The present study provides molecular phylogenetic support for positions of these genera in the subfamily Ixoroideae, and reveals the presence of a basal grade of morphologically distinct, monotypic genera (Crossopteryx, Jackiopsis, Scyphiphora, Trailliaedoxa, and Glionnetia, respectively) in the species-rich Vanguerieae alliance. These five genera may represent sole representatives of their respective lineages and therefore may carry unique genetic information. Their conservation status was assessed, applying the criteria set in IUCN Red List Categories. We consider Glionnetia and Jackiopsis Endangered. Scyphiphora is recognized as Near Threatened despite its extensive range and Crossopteryx as Least Concern. -
