1 Artist Index Where dates are given for an artist’s first and last record, these dates refer only to material of a Scottish nature. A + sign after the date of a Last Record indicates that the artist continued to record after 1960. The prefixes Mc and Mac were used indiscriminately, so do search both sections. Some singers were described on different record labels under two (or more) categories, i.e. tenor or baritone, baritone or bass, soprano or mezzo soprano, and so on.. The performance description “Reference entry only” means that the compiler is aware of the artist’s existence but feels they have no place in this discography.
