RUSH's best album ever: Transcribed!By Shaun WhiteThe best thing about this book is that every song is such a joy to play. This is EASILY my favorite RUSH album ever: a concept album unlike any other from RUSHmdash;it is packed with killer riffs, tons of classic Lifeson solos (The Gardenrsquo;s solo rivals Limelight IMO) killer bass like always, and drums galore. The book is graced with the albumrsquo;s fantasy artwork, and awesome lyrical sheets. The songs themselves deliver in a storytelling order which are complimented by the novelrsquo;s tale; protagonist versus antagonist; the search for more of a world; the quest for happiness and individuality.Back to the Guitar TAB: This book has me enjoying playing more than ever, I am stuck on The Anarchist, The Garden and Clockwork Angels. These are my favorite to play so farhellip;or the easiest for me? I highly recommend this book for any RUSH fan or budding guitarist. Rush's 19th studio album features all the classic elements that have endeared the band to several generations of fans and made them the most successful progressive rock group of all time! The book contains all the songs faithfully transcribed in authentic guitar TAB, beautiful full-color artwork, and a complete lyrics section. Titles: Caravan * BU2B * Clockwork Angels * The Anarchist * Carnies * Halo Effect * Seven Cities of Gold * The Wreckers * Headlong Flight * BU2B2 * Wish Them Well * The Garden. BOOK REVIEW THE BLACK POLICE: POLICING OUR OWN LOCKING UP OUR OWN: CRIME AND PUNISHMENT IN BLACK AMERICA. By James Forman Jr. New York, N.Y.: Farrar, Straus and Giroux. 2017. Pp. 306. $27.00. Reviewed by Devon W. Carbado∗ & L. Song Richardson∗∗ INTRODUCTION Since Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown in 2014,1 the problem of police violence against African Americans has been a rela- tively salient feature of nationwide discussions about race. Across the ideological spectrum, people have had to engage the question of whether, especially in the context of policing, it’s fair to say that black lives are undervalued. While there is both a racial and a political divide with respect to how Americans have thus far answered that question, the emergence of Black Lives Matter movements2 has made it virtually im- possible to be a bystander in the debate. Separate from whether racialized policing against African Americans is, in fact, a social phenomenon, is the contestable question about solu- tions: Assuming that African Americans are indeed the victims of over- policing, meaning that by some metric they end up having more inter- actions with the police and more violent encounters than is normatively warranted, what can we do about it? And here, the answers range from abolishing police officers altogether, to training them, to diversifying po- lice departments. It is on the last of these proposed solutions — the diversification of police departments — that we focus in this essay. The central question we ask is: What are the dynamics that might shape how African American police officers police other African Americans? Asked another way, what do existing theories about race and race relations, ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– ∗ Associate Vice Chancellor of BruinX for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Honorable Harry Pregerson Professor of Law, University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.

I had started "City of Bones" the first book of The Mortal Instruments by the same author but it didn't work for me so I thought this could be the same but I was totally wrong. This was an art,a fine peace of art. I read it in one day. Literally couldn't put the book down for a second. Everything is perfect and matchesand I really dig the lifestyle of the time before two hundred years, the classy outfits and the funny teasing. The plot is beyond goodness, and it has every paranormal creature. The book is written in third person and who knows me knows Clockwork Angel I don't like books in third person but in this one I didn't mind at all. It was perfectly build and the story fits well with characters, their personality with their actions, the style of talking with the time book is written in. Everything is in the right place. I also liked the romance in this book, because the book needed it and I'm so glad that the author didn't make it a big deal, like the reason of things happening because I'm tired with books where only true love and stuff like this triumph.

  • THE COLLECTED POEMS of HENRIK IBSEN Translated by John Northam
1 THE COLLECTED POEMS OF HENRIK IBSEN Translated by John Northam 2 PREFACE With the exception of a relatively small number of pieces, Ibsen’s copious output as a poet has been little regarded, even in Norway. The English-reading public has been denied access to the whole corpus. That is regrettable, because in it can be traced interesting developments, in style, material and ideas related to the later prose works, and there are several poems, witty, moving, thought provoking, that are attractive in their own right. The earliest poems, written in Grimstad, where Ibsen worked as an assistant to the local apothecary, are what one would expect of a novice. Resignation, Doubt and Hope, Moonlight Voyage on the Sea are, as their titles suggest, exercises in the conventional, introverted melancholy of the unrecognised young poet. Moonlight Mood, To the Star express a yearning for the typically ethereal, unattainable beloved. In The Giant Oak and To Hungary Ibsen exhorts Norway and Hungary to resist the actual and immediate threat of Prussian aggression, but does so in the entirely conventional imagery of the heroic Viking past. From early on, however, signs begin to appear of a more personal and immediate engagement with real life. There is, for instance, a telling juxtaposition of two poems, each of them inspired by a female visitation. It is Over is undeviatingly an exercise in romantic glamour: the poet, wandering by moonlight mid the ruins of a great palace, is visited by the wraith of the noble lady once its occupant; whereupon the ruins are restored to their old splendour.

  • Flight, Race, and Terry Stops: Commonwealth V. Warren
Flight, Race, and Terry Stops: Commonwealth v. Warren PAUL J. LARKIN,JR.*&DAVID L. ROSENTHAL** ABSTRACT Police officers find critical the ability to stop, question, and frisk someone who is reasonably suspected of being involved in a crime and of being armed. In 1968, the Supreme Court of the United States approved that practice in Terry v. Ohio. Since then, officers and courts have consistently found that a person’s unprovoked flight at the sight of an identifiable police officer indicates conscious ness of guilt and supports a Terry stop. In Commonwealth v. Warren, however, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court concluded that a suspect’s unpro voked flight was not sufficient, by itself or in conjunction with the other evidence known to the police, to justify their stop of Warren to question him about a recent burglary. Although that conclusion alone was mistaken, the court commit ted a more egregious error by hypothesizing that the suspect may have fled because other persons may have feared that the Boston Police Department had been engaged in a pattern of racially discriminatory stops-questions-and-frisks of young black males. In so ruling, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court made both factual and legal errors. One of the court’s mistakes was to look past the facts of the Warren case, to assume the position of a legislature, and, in that capacity, to fail to consider the interests of the black residents of local neighbor hoods who wish to avoid becoming victims of a crime. If a court assumes the role of a legislature, the court must consider the interests of the entire affected community, not just the interests of those residents who are suspected of being involved in a crime.
