August 21 @ Buffalo Susp. (Rain) August 22 @ Buffalo L 2-1 For the second straight night, the top two teams in the I.L. North battled before a sellout crowd of 10,100. The fans got something to cheer @ Buffalo L 7-3 for entering the bottom of the 9th inning in 1-1 tie, George Kontos entered out of the bullpen¬ and retired the first two men he faced before August 23 @ Buffalo W 7-3 consecutive singles and an intentional walk loaded the bases for J.P. Crawford who delivered the walkoff single. August 24 @ Lehigh Valley W 9-1 August 25 @ Lehigh Valley L 2-1 With the win, Lehigh Valley punches its ticket to the postseason for a third season, but clinches an I.L. North Division title for the first time August 26 @ Lehigh Valley 1:35 PM in the 11-year history of the franchise. August 27 @ Lehigh Valley 7:05 PM The RailRiders jumped on the board first Saturday night with a run in the top of the 7th inning. After six scoreless innings from RailRiders August 28 vs. Syracuse 7:05 PM RHP Erik Swanson, SWB gave its pitching staff some run support. The inning featured a pair of walks to Devyn Bolasky and Tyler Wade, August 29 vs. Syracuse 7:05 PM and subsequently a passed ball and a wild pitch to plate Bolasky for the 1-0 lead. August 30 vs. Syracuse 7:05 PM August 31 vs. Pawtucket 7:05 PM The offense featured a 2-for-3 night with a walk from Zack Zehner as he extended his season to nine games. With another multi-hit game, he is batting .406 (13-for-32) in that stretch. 2018 vs. ironpigs news & notes overall head-to-head: 10-8 date location result ACES IN THE HOLE: The top pitching prospect in the Yankees organization, LHP Justus Sheffield, made his bullpen April 9 PNC Field W 5-3 debut for the RailRiders Tuesday night in Buffalo and pitched for a second time out of the bullpen Saturday in Lehigh April 10 PNC Field W 5-2 Valley. RHP Chance Adams has been shifted to the bullpen and is expected to make his bullpen debut Sunday afternoon April 11 PNC Field L 2-0 at some point in back of RHP Raynel Espinal. In his first season out of Dallas Baptist University where Adams was often April 27 Coca-Cola Park L 6-1 used as a bullpen arm, all 14G in which he appeared were out of the bullpen to limit his innings. Since the start of the 2016 April 28 Coca-Cola Park PPD (Rain) season however, the only one of his 75G that was not a start was August 18, 2016 when he came out of the bullpen in back April 29 Coca-Cola Park L 4-0 (7) April 29 Coca-Cola Park L 3-0 (7) of MLB rehabbing RHP Bryan Mitchell who pitched that night for the Trenton Thunder against the Akron RubberDucks. May 15 PNC Field W 4-3 May 16 PNC Field W 3-1 RACE TO THE FINISH: The Wild Card race in the International League is heating up as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre May 17 PNC Field W 5-4 (11) RailRiders (67-62) hit the homestretch of the 2018 season. With 9G to go, SWB finds itself 1.0 GB of the Indianapolis June 19 PNC Field L 7-5 Indians (69-62) and Columbus Clippers (69-62) for the Wild Card lead. It’s looking like a four-team race for the final playoff June 20 PNC Field W 5-3 spot with the Norfolk Tides (68-63) and Toledo Mud Hens (67-63) also making a playoff push. June 21 PNC Field W 3-1 June 25 Coca-Cola Park L 3-2 June 26 Coca-Cola Park W 3-2 The playoff race is enough of a reason for the RailRiders to be motivated down the stretch, but the EXTRA INCENTIVE: June 27 Coca-Cola Park L 4-2 Lehigh Valley IronPigs entered the series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre needing just one win to clinch the IL North title, June 28 Coca-Cola Park W 6-3 which they accomplished Saturday night. Though Lehigh Valley has made the postseason each of the last two seasons as August 24 Coca-Cola Park W 9-1 the International League Wild Card, they clinched their first division title in the 11-year history of the team since moving from August 25 Coca-Cola Park L 2-1 Ottawa before the 2007 season. They have made the postseason three times as the Wild Card in 2017, 2016 and 2011. August 26 Coca-Cola Park 1:35 PM August 27 Coca-Cola Park 7:05 PM AND THEN THERE WAS ONE: With RHP J.P. Feyereisen heading to the Disabled List, the RailRiders have only one player who was on the SWB Opening Day roster and has not been on the DL or played with another team in the Yankees 2017 results: IronPigs Won 11-7 organization -- RHP Raynel Espinal, who is in his first season of Triple-A.RHP Cale Coshow was on the Opening Day all-time series: RailRiders Lead 92-74 roster but was on the DL from July 13-20 and the same can be said for INF Mike Ford who was on the DL from June 8 - July 12 (but player 6G on rehab with SS-A Staten Island). 2018 railriders at a glance 2018 overall record: 67-62 current roadtrip statistics Place: 2nd I.L. • A's News Clips, Thursday, March 3, 2011 A's Outfielder Coco Crisp
A’s News Clips, Thursday, March 3, 2011 A's outfielder Coco Crisp arrested on suspicion of DUI By Joe Stiglich Oakland Tribune A's center fielder Coco Crisp was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Wednesday morning, according to an A's news release. Crisp was detained and taken to City of Scottsdale Jail before being released Wednesday morning. He showed up to Phoenix Municipal Stadium on time to join the team for pre-game drills and was in uniform -- but not in the lineup -- for a game against the Cleveland Indians. Crisp declined to comment when asked about the situation, saying he would address the media "in due time." "The A's are aware of the situation and take such matters seriously," the A's statement read. "The team and Coco will have no further comment until further details are available." Crisp, 31, is in his second season with the A's and is slated to play center field and be the leadoff hitter. Ironically, the A's held a security meeting with Major League Baseball officials before taking the field Wednesday. A message that is stressed in the annual meeting is having awareness of the off-field dangers that exist for professional athletes. Crisp signed with the A's as a free agent in December 2009. He hit .279 with eight homers and 38 RBIs last season but played in just 75 games because of a fractured pinkie and strained rib cage muscle. Crisp posts frequently on his Twitter account and often makes reference to his nighttime socializing.
