Manager Level Access Password Removal GC, LC, CE and AD ChemStation

USE EXTREME CAUTION. Improper modification of the WIN.INI file can result in a failure of your WINDOWS® system to initialize properly.
It is recommended you make a backup copy of your WIN.INI prior to making the modifications suggested in this document
Note: The WIN.INI backup procedures listed below require a formatted floppy disk be present in the floppy drive.
WIN.INI Backup Procedure (Windows® 95 / Windows NT®) 1. From the Windows® TaskBar select the Start button 2. From the Start menu select Programs 3. From the Programs menu select Windows Explorer 4. Pull down the View menu and select Options 5. Disable (remove check) Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types that are registered – select OK button on panel. 6. Open the WINDOWS (WINNT for NT) subdirectory 7. Find file WIN.INI 8.

Start the SYSEDIT application
1. From the Task Bar,
Select the WIN.INI file for modification
1. Select the panel with WIN.INI in the title
Search for appropriate PCS section in the WIN.INI file
1. Pull down the Search menu and select Find
2. In the Find field enter: PCS and select the Find Next button)
3. Select the Cancel button
Within the [PCS] section, remove Manager Level Access Password
1. Scroll down, find the line that begins "level=”
2. Remove the entire line that begins "level=”
Save the WIN.INI file and Exit SYSEDIT
1. Pull down the File menu and select Save
2. Pull down the File menu and select Exit
Restart the Chemstation session (no Manager Level access password will be set)
