FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ‘SEE IT BIG! ACTION’ FEATURES MORE THAN 30 ACTION MOVIE FAVORITES ON THE BIG SCREEN April 19–July 7, 2019 Astoria, New York, April 16, 2019—Museum of the Moving Image presents See It Big! Action, a major screening series featuring more than 30 action films, from April 19 through July 7, 2019. Programmed by Curator of Film Eric Hynes and Reverse Shot editors Jeff Reichert and Michael Koresky, the series opens with cinematic swashbucklers and continues with movies from around the world featuring white- knuckle chase sequences and thrilling stuntwork. It highlights work from some of the form's greatest practitioners, including John Woo, Michael Mann, Steven Spielberg, Akira Kurosawa, Kathryn Bigelow, Jackie Chan, and much more. As the curators note, “In a sense, all movies are ’action’ movies; cinema is movement and light, after all. Since nearly the very beginning, spectacle and stunt work have been essential parts of the form. There is nothing quite like watching physical feats, pulse-pounding drama, and epic confrontations on a large screen alongside other astonished moviegoers. See It Big! Action offers up some of our favorites of the genre.” In all, 32 films will be shown, many of them in 35mm prints. Among the highlights are two classic Technicolor swashbucklers, Michael Curtiz’s The Adventures of Robin Hood and Jacques Tourneur’s Anne of the Indies (April 20); Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (April 21); back-to-back screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road and Aliens on Mother’s Day (May 12); all six Mission: Impossible films

One outlet which constantly both reflects and enables patriarchy is our media; the movie industry in particular plays a critical role in constructing gender roles and reflecting our cultural attitudes toward patriarchy. "Life's most persistent and urgent question is; what are you doing for others?" -MLK OUR VISION For over a decade, MDC has helped establish rewarding relationships between thousands of individuals, businesses and charities who care deeply about the well-being of others and the community. Through our work (video production, event planning & consulting) we want to share stories that matter, organize events that build bridges, highlight extraordinary individuals, create simple and effective ways of giving back, and act as professional matchmakers. Our mission has always been to connect the people who want to help with the people who need help the most. From the start, we've witnessed heartbreaking scenarios where trauma and hardship causes a child or family to feel isolated and hopeless. Despite what we're taught, time is more precious than gold and we strive to make every day, hour and minute count. The world does not stop when tragedy strikes; but good people can and do. We enlist the help of caregivers across every business sector around the globe and rely on them to help us create special moments in time that bring hope and joy to those suffering through hardship. We've created an Active Response Team; an unofficial team of do-gooders who are willing to step up to the plate when needed. And just like the word "team" signifies, together everyone achieves more. MDC works by cause, not by client -- and in doing so, it allows us to foster collaboration and look after the interests of all involved. The impact we make by working together is more powerful and far-reaching than most individuals can achieve on their own.

  • Netflix's Big Mouth
Netflix’s Big Mouth Big Mouth = Big Topics The first season of Netflix’s new animated show Big Mouth debuted on September 29, 2017 and is very popular among teens and young adults. Boasting an all-star cast and a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the cartoon is about middle schoolers going through puberty in the most explicit, perverse, and, at times, depraved way possible. Puberty is indeed a difficult time for all of us, and while the show does bring some good to the discussion, it’s also fraught with problems. What do I need to know about Big Mouth? It’s an adult cartoon based on the real-life experiences that comic writers Nick Kroll and An- drew Goldberg had as kids growing up in New York. They share, in graphic detail, what it was like growing up and going through puberty. As most young men do, Nick and Andrew strug- gled through lust, sexuality, relationships with girls, and the ups and downs of friendship. The show features some of the most popular comedians of our time as the voices, including: John Mulaney, Fred Armisen, Kristen Wiig, and Jordan Peele. Although the show is about pre-teens, it is intended for an adult audience. However, Netflix does not effectively limit younger viewers’ access, and undoubtedly, there will be many teens and pre-teens who watch the show. Many of them have lots of questions about sex, and they will be drawn to the show in hopes of finding answers. Unfortunately, due to the content, they are likely to develop some severely warped ideas from watching it.

Of course, that was the aim of his magisterial scholarly work, and while unquestionably impressive, his tome turned out to be by no means the last word on the topic. Indeed over the intervening quarter century, quite to the contrary, we witnessed a continuously increasing outpouring of specialized political science, historical, philosophical, psychological, and other disciplinary studies with clearly ―no school of leadership‖with a single unifying theory emerging.

arcade OCTOBER 10 2008 • 12 the セ オ ・ ウ エ fo-r the top 10 comedic pe-rsonalities Derrick Tou s senior staffwriter This year's pursuit for the funniest comedic personalities was long, hard and filled with surprises. After searching and scouring You Tube and IMDb for days, a large list of funny people was created. After cutting said list from a group of hopefuls that included Bon-Qui- Qui, the creatarrrs of Pirate Facebook, and whoever has been setting off the Wall, Phelps and Irby fire-alarms, the following 10 comedians and comediennes were selected for keeping us rolling on the floor and slapping our knees. 1. Tina Fey No surprise here. Tina Fey is a maverick filled with that maverick energy, but she's got more to her name than the best Sarah Palin impression this side of Alaska. Governor Palin herself described the Weekend Update host and star of "Baby Mama" as "a ィ ッ ッ エ セ As the first female head writer of"Satur- day Night Live" and the creator of the hit NBC show "30 Rock," Fey has garnered five Emmys in the past two years as well as several hottest woman nomi· nations. Although male fans across the nation were disappointed when Fey traded her naughty secretary black-rimmed glasses for Palin lenses, she remains on the top of the current comedic scene. 2. Conan O'Brien Probably today's most prominent comedic writer and funniest male personality, Conan O'Brien earns the number two spot. A former writ- er for "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons," Conan has hosted his "Late Night" show for over 12 years; however, the magna cum laude graduate of Harvard will replace Jay Leno next year as the face of late night tele\;sion and will most likely celebrate with his famous string dance.
