Official commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster have begun, to remember those that lost their lives on 21st . A total of 116 children and 28 adults died when a coal waste tip slid down a mountain, engulfing a school and surrounding houses. To mark the 50th anniversary, a series of events have been organised for those wishing to pay their respects and to remember the lives that were lost on this tragic day. Information on these events is listed below.
