HEAD COACH

Brent Wilson Head Coach Sixth Year

Brent Wilson has been the head coach at SUNY Sullivan since August of 2013. He earned added responsibilities being named Assistant Athletic Director in February of 2016.

Since Wilson’s arrival Sullivan has experienced tremendous success winning 119 games in his first five seasons with only 33 losses. In his first season as a head coach; Wilson led Sullivan to an incredible 25-7 record which was one of the most wins for any first year coach in 2014 at the Junior College level. He has continued that success as his teams have never won less than 21 games in a season.

Brent Wilson came to Sullivan after spending one season at the University of North Dakota in the Big Sky Conference. Wilson helped the Fighting Sioux finish 3rd as brand new members of the Big Sky which is the highest ever for a league newcomer.

Prior to North Dakota; Wilson helped to build the foundation of success as a player and then a coach at the University at Alba- ny. Recruited from the state of Iowa to Albany in 2004; Wilson captained the Great Danes to their first ever America East Champi- onship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006. In the tourna- ment they almost upset #1 seeded UCONN. Wilson continued his success as a player captaining the 2007 team to it’s second ever NCAA Tournament appearance. During his career; Wilson scored over 1000 points while earning America East All-Conference and Head Coaching Record All-Tournament honors. In recognition of his accomplishments; Brent and his 2006 teammates were inducted into the UAlbany Year Record Win % Athletic Hall Of Fame in October of 2017.

Wilson rejoined Albany as Director of basketball operations from 2017-18 26-5 .839 2009-2011 and was elevated to assistant coach from 2011- 2012. The Great Danes went from 7 wins during Wilsons first sea- 2016-17 23-8 .742 son all the way to 19 wins in 2012. His three seasons on the Albany staff were instrumental in laying the groundwork for a team which would eventually make three consecutive NCAA Tournaments in 2015-16 24-6 .800 2013, 2014, and 2015. 2014-15 21-8 .724 Wilson obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Albany in 2010 and his Masters degree from Canisius College in 2015.
