Your Opportunity Provide strategic and professional leadership and governance for the medical workforce in the South Burnett Cluster (Kingaroy, Nanango, Cherbourg and Murgon) in the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service. Be a senior clinician leader responsible of efficient quality medical services to inpatients and outpatients of the Kingaroy Hospital where the position is based. Deliver Quality clinical services in the areas of inpatient and outpatient care, administration, service planning and teaching to the communities of the South Burnett. Your Role § Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service values, as outlined above. § Lead the medical services at Kingaroy Hospital and in the South Burnett Cluster to provide support and governance for Medical Superintendents within the South Burnett cluster of the DDHHS § Provide leadership to improve care by being a role model, reviewing and developing care processes, monitoring emerging issues and leading change § Manage and monitor medical workforce performance to ensure that medical services are provided in a clinically safe and effective manner § Facilitate quality practices such as morbidity and mortality meetings, case reviews, clinical audits and other reflective activities across the South Burnett; aim to develop shared opportunities for such meetings § Review performance and development of medical staff in the South Burnett to promote ongoing improvement in clinical practice and ensure a high quality service delivery § Develop and manage the South Burnett medical workforce planning to support workforce sustainability and ensure clinical service continuity § Engage with other health service workers to facilitate multidisciplinary approaches to service delivery and service development § Facilitate and contribute to the integration and cooperation between medical, nursing, and allied health streams to promote seamless care and quality patient outcomes § Facilitate and contribute to the integration and cooperation between clinical services in the public and private sectors in the South Burnett and DDHHS through strategic networks within the DDHHS, the Primary Health Network, private practice clinicians, and between clinicians in proximate towns § Promote a culture of quality and safety among clinical staff, and the utilisation of strong clinical governance structures. Escalate issues of significant concerns with the quality of medical care to the Executive Director of Medical Services (EDMS), and participate in the Open Disclosure process § Participate in the process and lead medical involvement in accreditation to meet the National Health Standards § Ensure organisation of and facilitate the education of medical staff and students within the South Burnett § Support and lead research and development, and oversee the appropriate governance structures and processes in relation to research and development activities § Contribute to the wider leadership and engagement of clinicians across the DDHHS § While the bulk of this role is leadership and management functions, there is opportunity for limited clinical services and participation in local facility on-call roster as available. The remaining 0.2FTE would be clinical. A flexible approach to this time allocation is expected. § The governance role delivers professional line management for Medical Superintendents within the South Burnett cluster. § The role reports operationally to the Director of Nursing/Facility Manager Kingaroy Hospital and professionally to the DDHHS Executive Director of Medical Services § HR Policy B8 applies to this position § Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces. § Implement and monitor the organisation’s quality standards, occupational health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area. Mandatory Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager if you are the preferred candidate for employment. § Current registration with or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA). § Fellowship of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM), Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and /or other agreed Fellowship qualifications. § Minimum of five years post Fellowship experience in a rural/remote location as a medical practitioner is desirable. § Eligibility to be an accredited registrar supervisor for Australian General Practice Trainees in the South Burnett is desirable. § Travel across the DDHHS will be a requirement of this role. § Highly Desirable – Fellowship of the Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or commitment to obtain FRACMA or associate FRACMA (aFRACMA). Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chicken pox), Pertussis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A (for roles that involve any of the following - work in remote Indigenous communities or with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children; work in early childhood education and care; work as plumbers or in regular contact with untreated sewage; work caring for persons with developmental disabilities) Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, Department to a HHS, or HHS to Department).
