Chick Corea Bio 2015 Chick Corea has attained iconic status in music. The keyboardist, composer and bandleader is a DownBeat Hall of Famer and NEA Jazz Master, as well as the fourth- most nominated artist in Grammy Awards history with 63 nods – and 22 wins, in addition to a number of Latin Grammys. From straight-ahead to avant-garde, bebop to jazz-rock fusion, children’s songs to chamber and symphonic works, Chick has touched an astonishing number of musical bases in his career since playing with the genre-shattering bands of Miles Davis in the late ’60s and early ’70s. Yet Chick has never been more productive than in the 21st century, whether playing acoustic piano or electric keyboards, leading multiple bands, performing solo or collaborating with a who’s who of music. Underscoring this, he has been named Artist of the Year twice this decade in the DownBeat Readers Poll. Born in 1941 in Massachusetts, Chick remains a tireless creative spirit, continually reinventing himself through his art. Dee Bell Silver Bells Was the Bell Family Signature Christmas Song
Why Silva • Bell • Elation? • Dee Bell Silver Bells was the Bell Family signature Christmas song. It was a tradition in our family holiday jam sessions. Because of this, the merging of the two names Marcos Silva and Dee Bell seemed tunefully obvious. Elation was the result of the Silva Bell musical partnership. From the first recording with Stan Getz to the present, the rhythms and music of Brazil have infused new tonal colors and energy into the music that enlivens my spirit. Stan and Eddie Duran introduced me to those rhythms and prompted deeper exploration into the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ivan Lins, Maria Bethania, Simone, Dori and Nana Caymmi, Joyce, Toninho Horta, Chico Buarque, Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Elis Regina to mention a few. Maria Marquez, a contemporary of mine also living and performing in San Francisco in the 80s, generously made a tape for me of these artists and several others that further inspired. Bless you Maria! This music has sustained my spirit through the last thirty years of life’s crushing waves and lean times. The first two Concord recordings Let There Be Love and One by One were successfully acclaimed, then the waves began to hit. By the time the third recording, Sagacious Grace, was Dee finally revived from certain death by recording engineers Bud Spangler and Dan Feizli, the Bell heart of the recording and my musical director, Al Plank, had, to quote James Gavin in Silva • Bell • Elation’s liner notes, “moved on to the next world.” The dilemma of how to present a RECORD COMPANY CD release show without the master musician left me stymied.

Gabriele Tranchina 58 Indian Trail North • Greenwood Lake, NY 10925 (646) 234-2532 • [email protected] Bio When you have been described as "a German-born, Parisian chanteuse, with Brazilian styling’s, who is a cross between Ute Lemper, Mireille Mathieu and Tania Maria," it's hard to live inside any musical box. Gabriele Tranchina traverses the world of vocal jazz, Latin and Brazilian music, sprinkling it with colors of every hue from places far and near. Her solid technique and sensitivity for lyrics give her the ability to express herself with confidence and ease and to transform each song into something not quite like anything else. Her ability to use rhythm, resting underneath her vocals, surges the music forward, keeping it alive in each moment. She is comfortable singing in German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, and English, so a strong international influence is never far away. Her vocals, which have been called "impressive," "technically perfect," and "just breathtaking," caused jazz legend, Mark Murphy, to say "Gabriele sings like a bird and swings and swings until the cows come home." Gabriele grew up in Germany but left home at an early age to travel, journeying throughout Europe and the Far East, gathering experiences that influenced her tastes as an artist. Gabriele has been touched by the work of a wide range of artists including Antonio Carlos Jobim, Flora Purim, Ella Fitzgerald, and a range of distinctive artists from American soil and foreign lands. Stride piano from the 1920s rubs shoulders with swing from the 1940s, classic combo sounds from the 1950s, salsa-flavored dance music, and recently created pieces that stretch the very boundaries of jazz. AIRTO MOREIRA – “Celebration Suite” SAMBA SAMBA SAMBA In 1997, a new audience discovered Airto Moreira when the Bellini Brothers sampled his song, “Celebration Suite,” for their breakout dance hit, “Samba De Janiero.” The track went on to hit #1 in the dance music charts in over 26 countries around Europe, Asia and Latin America, later garnering numerous placements in television commercials and video game soundtracks. In 1998, a reworked version of the song, “Samba e Gol”, was selected as one of the official songs of the World Cup Soccer Championship and was used in commercials that appeared in Israel, Greece and France. The song reappeared at Euro 2008, played every time a goal was scored. Notable Usage of “Samba De Janeiro” Airto Moreira has been playing music from a Konami Dance Dance Revolution very young age. Born in 1941 in the small Max 2 game village of Itaiopolis, south Brazil, Moreira moved to Sao Paulo at the age of sixteen and SEGA Japan/ Samba De Amigo game performed regularly as a percussionist, SEGA USA drummer and singer. In 1965 he met the singer Flora Purim in Rio Suntory television, radio, and de Janeiro. Flora moved to the USA in 1967 theatre advertisement and Airto followed her shortly after, where he for Bingobongo soft began playing with the greats - Cannonball drink Adderley, Lee Morgan, Paul Desmond and Joe Zawinul, and most notably, Miles Davis, Naj Magazine television commercial performing on “Live/Evil”, “Live at the Fillmore”, “On the Corner”, “The Isle of SEGA Europe SEGA Superstars Tennis Wight”, “Bitches Brew” and later releases game including the “Fillmore Sessions”.

Giovanni Hidalgo Giovanni Hidalgo a.k.a. “Mañenguito” (born November 22, 1963) is an educator, percussionist and recording artist in the genre’ of Latin jazz. Hidalgo was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he received his primary education. His grandfather had also been a musician, as well as his father José Manuel Hidalgo “Mañengue”, who was a renowned conga player. Therefore, Hidalgo was raised in a household surrounded by drums, bongos, congas and timbales.[1] He received a conga for his eighth birthday which had been handmade by his father. As a young child he practiced and developed his speed and playing skills on the conga and on the other instruments in his house. Hidalgo would drum a tune with sticks and then play the same tune with his hands. Musical career Hidalgo auditioned and was hired by the Batacumbele Band in 1980. In 1981, he traveled with the band to Cuba where he met a musician by the name of José Luis Quintana “Changuito”. Together they were able to create a unique style of rhythm and ushered in a new musical era in Latin music.[1][2] In 1985, Hidalgo was performing with Eddie Palmieri at The Village Gate in New York City, when the legendary jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie walked in and listened to Hidalgo play. He was so impressed with Hidalgo that he told him that someday in the future they must get together and play. In 1988 Hidalgo joined Gillespie’s United Nation Orchestra.[1] In 1992, he was hired as an adjunct professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
