We will have use of a private coach and driver, while touring for the next eight days. Visit the Dachau Concentration Camp. In 1933, what had once been a quiet little artists’ community became a tragic symbol of the Nazi era, the first German concentration camp. The Audioguided tour of the camp includes the memorial chapels and two of the rebuilt barracks. The Museum is housed in the large building that once contained the kitchen, laundry, and shower baths. We will continue on to Salzburg, Austria. Our hotel in Salzburg, will be our base for the next two nights. While here, we will enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Take a “Sound of Music Tour,” including sights in Salzburg associated with the historically- based film and an excursion outside the city to visit places where the film was shot. During concert intermission, dinner will be served.

1 DAY 4 Monday, 07 October 2019 Explore Salzburger Dom (Salzburg Cathedral), which is world renowned for its 4,000-pipe organ. The cathedral has been hailed by some critics as the ‘most perfect’ Renaissance building in the Germanic countries, and features a marble facade and symmetrical twin towers. Today we will travel from Salzburg, Austria, to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, stopping in Oberammergau, Germany on the way. The quaint town of Oberammergau, is famed for its woodcarving center and renowned for its painted houses, in a colorful style known as Lüftmalerei, typical for the region. In addition, Oberammergau is famous worldwide for its Passion Play. We will continue to the Garmisch Partenkirchen (area), which will be our base for the next three nights. While here, we will enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Spend time in the twin villages of Garmisch and Partenkirchen, which make up Germany’s top alpine resort. In spite of their urban flair, the towns maintain the charm of an ancient village, often with country folk in traditional dress. The towns and their environs offer some of the most panoramic views in Bavaria. You will have some free time to explore the area.

DAY 5 Tuesday, 08 October 2019 Alpine views are around every corner and ski slopes just a funicular ride from the center of historic Innsbruck. A medieval old town is home to imperial palaces, world-class galleries and Zaha Hadid's avant-garde designs. Sophisticated, good-looking and affluent, the Tyrolean capital walks a fine tightrope between the urban and the outdoors, the historic and the cutting edge, and it pulls off the act beautifully. Visit Schloss Ambras, a Renaissance palace southeast of Innsbruck on the edge of the Mittelgebirgsterrace. The castle was built by Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria, Count of Tyrol, in the 16th century and is divided into a lower and an upper castle set in the remains of a medieval fortress. The Lower Castle features collections of arms and armor, art, and books, as well as the Spanish Hall, one of the first German Renaissance halls, built to house the portraits of the counts of Tyrol. The Upper Castle has a collection of medieval sculpture and a portrait gallery of dynastic paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries.
