Leinster GAA Convention Report 2013-2014 1
Leinster GAA Convention Report 2013-2014 1 The proudest man in Croke Park last Summer was Na Fianna’s Jimmy Gray when he was called on to present the Bob O’Keeffe Cup to Dublin Hurling Captain, Johnny McCaffrey, after their victory over Galway. In 1961 Jimmy played in goal for Dublin when they defeated Wexford in their last Dublin Captain Stephen Cluxton, raises the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship Final win. Little did anyone know then that it Delaney Cup in triumph at Croke Park in July 2013 would be a long 52 years before the Dubs would repeat that victory. Well worth waiting for, Jimmy! Na Fianna Nuacht 310818
Na Fianna Nuacht Na Fianna Supporting The Dubs It’s going to be another huge All-Ireland Final weekend as Dublin take on Tyrone in Sunday’s Senior Football final. All in Na Fianna are getting behind our 3 reps in Jim Gavin’s panel and we all wish Jonny Cooper, Conor McHugh, Eoin Murchan and the Dublin lads the very best as they strive to make it 4 Sams in a row. Thanks to the group of Na Fianna members who gave their time during the week to make sure that the club was decked out appropriately in Dublin colours to show support for the lads. Why not make Na Fianna your pre or post match stop on Sunday. Na Fianna Nuacht 31ú Lúnasa 2018 1 Na Fianna Nuacht Na Fianna Nuacht 31ú Lúnasa 2018 2 Na Fianna Nuacht Saturday 1st September in Na Fianna The Na Fianna Nursery is back in action on Saturday morning 1st September. The fun and madness starts at 9.15am. New players always welcome, tell your pals. On what will undoubtedly be a busy morning in Mobhi Road, all attending are encouraged to walk or cycle and all drivers are asked to park considerately and to observe the yellow boxes in the car park. Teas and coffees will be available, with a smile, from our wonderful staff at the Coffee cabin. The Hurley shop will be open from 9-12 but please note that due to another commitment the Club Shop will NOT be open this Saturday. Supporting Leah, Lucy & The Jackies Well done to the 2003 Ladies who travelled to Dr Hyde Park last weekend to support Leah Caffrey, Lucy Collins and the Dublin Senior Ladies footballers in their All-Ireland Championship semi-final win over Galway. -

“60,000 Players Involved in Boden Games in 2010” Has the Editor Gone Mad I Hear You Say!
´BODEThe News Ballyboden St. Enda’s G.A.A., Camogie & Ladies Football Club IRISLEABHAR BAILE BUADÁIN NAOMH ÉANNA No: 37 ISSN 0791-9778 www.bodengaa.ie e: [email protected] Nollaig 2010 “60,000 players involved in Boden Games in 2010” Has the Editor gone mad I hear you say! Check this out. In 2010, Boden participated in 1,500 competitive games across the four codes. Given that this also involved 1,500 teams from Criostóir Ó Cuana, Úachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael performs the official opening of the other clubs with an average of 20 players per squad this Sancta Maria Complex watched by Terry O’Neill, Club Chair; Cllr. Eamonn Maloney, Mayor of South Dublin; Joan O’Flynn, Úachtarán, Cumann Camógaíochta; Colin Moran and Fr. Jimmy amounts to a total of 60,000 players taking part in gaelic games Murray, O. Carm., PP, St. Colmcille’s Knocklyon playing activity involving the club. And of course don’t forget the 1,500 referees. It is a phenomenal number. Add in all the training sessions and discussions associated with each team and the impact of this voluntary activity is truly enormous. As the country faces into difficult economic times, it is heartening to see such endeavour complemented with characteristics like passion, spirit and hope. These qualities are not in short supply in Ireland and if we can harness them properly we will overcome our problems. The club itself was overcome with joy in 2010 with the marvellous four-in-a-row senior hurling titles – an achievement that places the club among the ranks of great clubs. -
