Hyderabad, Agra, Delhi Trip Length: 8 Days TRIP ITINERARY (as of July 18, 2016 - subject to change)

DAY 1 Upon arrival in , you will be met and transferred to the Taj Krishna and SUNDAY, JANUARY 29 check-in for a two-night stay. The Taj Krishna is located in Banjara Hills, in the ARRIVE HYDERABAD heart of the historical city of Hyderabad. Surrounded by huge pre-historic rocks and built around a lake, Hyderabad is the capital of . A curious blend of the fairytale and the earthy, a mix of old and new. Known for its rich Nizami history, this city is replete with sites of deep historical significance like , Goldconda Fort, and , now a Taj hotel. The Taj Krishna hotel is nestled within immaculately manicured lawns, and overlooks the calm of the Lake. Spend your first evening in India at leisure.

DAY 2 After breakfast at the hotel, meet Landesa staff for a rip orientation where you will MONDAY, JANUARY 30 learn more about the lives of the rural poor in Telangana, how land can make a HYDERABAD difference for rural farmers, and how Landesa helps drive that change. Continue the discussion over lunch at a famous Hyderabadi restaurant, before setting out for a half day of touring the city. Set out with your guide to visit the , which houses the world’s largest one-man collection including 35,000+ antiques and art objects collected by Salar Jung III, a former Prime Minister of Nizam. You will also visit Charminar, the city’s best known landmark—referred to as “the Arc of Triumph of the East.” Visit Lad Bazaar, the largest market in Hyderabad and known for its pearls and a bangle bazaar that stretches almost 1 kilometer long. This evening enjoy a cooking demonstration and dinner with renowned chef Begum Noor Jafri at her residence. (B, L, D)

DAY 3 After breakfast at the hotel, set out for a full day of field visits. See first-hand how TUESDAY, JANUARY 31 Landesa provides opportunity for rural women and men through the power of land. HYDERABAD See legal aid centers located in remote villages, meet communities who have recently been granted land, and hear from women whose lives were changed upon receiving land almost a decade ago. A boxed lunch will be provided. Overnight at the best available local hotel. (B, L, D)

DAY 4 Today you will visit local villages to continue to meet with members of the WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1 community, hear their stories, and experience rural life in India. Return to HYDERABAD Hyderabad and check in to the Taj Krishna for an overnight stay. Dinner this evening is at your leisure. (B, L)

DAY 5 This morning, debrief about the site visits before heading out for an afternoon of THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2 sightseeing. At 15:30, you will be transferred to the airport to board Indigo flight HYDERBAD – DELHI 302 Hyderabad-Delhi 17:30-19:35. Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to 6E 302 17:30 – 19:35 the Hotel Lalit for an overnight stay. Delhi is a fascinating city with a rich history and culture: the “capital of seven empires” has centuries of recognized monuments within its borders and though Mumbai has more residents, Delhi is widely considered the cultural heart of India.

DAY 6 After breakfast, meet with Indian officials and Landesa leaders for a discussion FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3 about Landesa’s work across India and emerging opportunities to make change for DELHI poor farmers across the country. This afternoon, set out to explore Delhi; hop onto cycle rickshaws and set out through the bustling marketplace, Chandi Chawk. Pass through Dariba Kalan, the gold and silversmith district, then through Kinari Bazaar, which has the most colorful shops in Old Delhi, and Khari Baoli, famous for its nut and spice shops. DAY 7 After breakfast, you will be transferred to the railway station to board Gatimaan SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 Express train Delhi-Agra 08:10-09:50. Upon arrival, check in to the ITC Mughal for DELHI – AGRA an overnight stay. Agra was the Imperial Mughal capital during the 16th and 17th GATIMAAN EXPRESS TRAIN centuries and is located on the banks of the Yamuna River along Grand Trunk Road. 08:10 – 09:50 After settling in you will head out for a full day tour, including visits to Agra Fort, where was imprisoned during his final years, gazing at the magnificent views of the tomb he had commissioned for his beloved wife. Explore Jehangir Mahal, the main harem, with its complex arrangements of halls, courtyards and galleries. Visit Diwan-i-Khas, a lavishly decorated open hall with fine pietra dura work on the columns where the Emperor would meet his court. Later, take a decorated horse carriage to see the Taj Mahal bathed in evening light. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner and discussion at a Peshawari restaurant. (B, L, D)

DAY 8 Awake early for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Return to the hotel for breakfast SUNDAY, FEBURARY 5 before heading out to explore Agra, the home of marble inlay work, stonework, and AGRA – DELHI rich Zardozi embroidery. You will visit factories to observe the craftsmen and/or BY ROAD explore the bazaars to shop for costume jewelry, bangles, and other collectibles.

DEPART INDIA This afternoon, depart by car for Delhi (approximately 4 hours by road) and enjoy a half day tour of Old Delhi including visits to the Red Fort with its imposing sandstone walls and Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. This evening you will be transferred to the airport to board your international departure flight. (B)
