Licenses: Born 29 May 1944, Nominal Christian life, hurting Jesus as Saul did in Acts 9:4, “He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, „Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?‟” Realized the vocation to gospel work in 1966 after five years of waiting and prayer. Joined Christusishya ashram (Disciples of Christ) and served there as secretary and trusty of charitable society for four years. Received a license to preach in the churches and the underdeveloped villages in Tamilnadu. Converted one family to Christianity. Many people heard the gospel. Assisted in a homeopathic clinic of a medical mission center. Transferred to another mission field in 1970. There I received the license from the collector of the district as a homeopathic doctor. During four years of service, treated 10,000 patients. Out of this, 500 non-Christians were converted because of their miraculous healing through the gospel, medical mission; there. I got a transfer with promotion to another district, Pathanamthitta, to start a new medical mission, a monastery, a charitable society, a trust, under which a retreat and a counseling center was started in 1979. Then I was ordained as a missionary priest. In 1997, I was promoted to the post of director of the counseling center in Mylapra. I was selected to take the perfect vow of celibacy at the age of 53. From that day onwards, I wear a cloth on my head symbolizing the vow of Nazirite, mentioned in Numbers 6:1-5, and the thorny crown worn by Jesus on the day of his crucifixion. From June 21, 1997, I received the license to be known as Remban Paul and the license to conduct retreats as a retreat father. B. Ordination papers enclosed separately C. Other Certificates are enclosed. 4. Achievements A. Awards- Dec 1985: Conducted Youth conference as Dean of the conference, “Jesus sets free to serve” in Singapore, were chief presenter and moderator at the conference. Presented practical and theoretical sessions in v Christian Yoga. Printed notes were given to participants (Copies are not available). I received the credit certificate from the parish priest of Singapore and Malaysia. B. Activities- 1995-Present: Director, Mylapra Retreat Center, Mar Kuriakose Ashram, INDIA C. Activities include retreat on Fridays and Sundays (avg. attendance of 600 persons) conseling on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Interdenominational fellowship highlighting unity and salvation through Jesus Christ. Aid to poor patients, Educational help to poor students, Support all the needs of volunteer workers, Building homes for the needy. Proposed projects include: building a convent for volunteers who offer their services, Training Center for Gospel, Retreat and Counseling under the order of St. Anthony‟s Missions to practice the Monastic way of life balanced with action and contemplation. Building the Remban Matthew‟s Memorial Hospital and Printing Press and Book Store to print and sell books on retreat and gospel, and other periodic publications. C. Publications- Published articles on devotional topics through Church Weekly, from 1965 onwards. The title was “The Spiritual Factory of Transformation and Glorification of Human Souls in the Mission Field.” Those articles are written in Malayalam and are not yet translated. Other articles on church history have been translated from English to Malyalam. Another book, “Rigdevic Soteriology”: A comparative study of Christ and Myth of Prajapathi in Rigveda- Christ has been compared to the Hindu Myth of Prajapathi. Prajapathi is an ancient Hindu mythological character who is presented in the Rigveda comparable to the Prophecy of Jesus Christ‟s sacrificial death and resurrection in the old Testament. Another article recently published, “The Oil of our Lamp of Spirit,” a message given to the youth recently in July 1999. (Copy enclosed). A poem was composed and tuned for VBS students at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Detroit, U.S.A, August 12, 1999 of which the title, “Who is child of God deserving refuge in the bosom of God? (Copy enclosed) Many other poems and new songs have been composed in Malayalam for worship and used in the retreat center. vi 5. Employment Background: Past 20-year frame A. Mar Kuriakose Orthodox Church Mylapra P.O, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India 689671. Served as the vicar and president of the church from 1979 to 1984. Assistant vicar of St. Gregorios Church Mysore from 1984- June 1986. Vicar in-charge for one month of St. Gregorios Church in Queens, New York in August 1986. B. Appointed vicar of St. Thomas Orthodox Church in Rajasthan, India in 1989 to 1991, combined with duties in Lucknow, Dehradun, Haridwar, Ajmer, Kethady Nagar, Bikaner, New Delhi, and West Bengal. I was then appointed vicar of St. Anthony‟s Church in Thannithodu, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India in 1992. C. From 1993 to 1995 I was appointed vicar of St. Mary‟s Orthodox Church in Thaloor, Vyanad, Kerala, together with study in Mysore as a research scholar and visiting missionary priest in different churches there. The vision of my future ministry is reflected in my thesis, the unfulfilled plan of God in Ephesians 1:10. “ That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, vii and which are on earth - in Him.” To achieve this aim, I am doing inter-religious dialogue: preaching, house visiting, counseling, and retreat all over the world. B. Unique talents: Preaching, Singing, and composing new songs, which convey gospel truths, painting episodes from the gospels. Christian Yoga: coordinating body, soul and spirit. Coordination of believers and non-believers in the mission field through gardening, cooking, and digging ground works. Drawing plans of buildings useful for missionary and monasteries. Writing new scientific parables taken from electronic mechanisms: computer, email, technology of flight and electricity to convey biblical truths in modern languages using Malyalam, English, Tamil, Hindi, Syriac, and Greek. (Sanskrit and Spanish study as a beginner only) C. Wish to provide Services: In Orthodox Church, general public, and all other denominations with ecumenical spirit, in all religions. D. Major: My major is biblical religious counseling for those who are wounded in spirit and soul. My vocational conviction through a vision that I am called and elected to continue the ministry of St. Paul. The same revelation was given to my superior at the time of my priestly ordination and I was named Paul. ,After that, as a missionary priest, the Holy Spirit led me to many cities of India, Malaysia, Middle East, and in America. Recently the Holy Spirit has led me to meet Dr. John T. Longsworth the President of Cornerstone University.Louisiana.U.S.A on August 24,1999 at Maharajah‟s Indian Restaurant in Houston. 8. Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, 89th successor to the Holy Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas. Our beloved Holiness passed away in the Lord from this earthy tent on January 26. The mortal remains of His Holiness were buried at Mount Horeb Monastery Chapel at Sasthamkotta. His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II, born January 30, 1915, was Catholicos of the East, Malankara Metropolitan, and 89th successor to the Holy Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas. His Holiness was born at Perinad in Kollam District of Kerala, and had his religious training at Old Seminary Kottayam and also at Basil Dayara, Pathanamthitta. Later he joined Bishop's College, Calcutta for his B. D. Degree, and studied Theology at the General Theologocal Seminary in New York. He was ordained Deacon in 1938 and then as Priest, Fr. Mathews, in 1941. It was during his stay at the Monastery of St. George (Dayara) in Othara that Father Mathews made his marks as very a devoted and an outstanding priest of the Indian Orthodox Church. Because of his passion for serving the Lord and helping others, he was called “Angel Achen.” On May 15, 1953 he was ordained Bishop of Indian Orthodox Church at the age of 38. As Metropolitan of the Diocese of Kollam, he was responsible for its growth and progress.

    Consecration of Holy Myron: Frequently Asked Questions 1.) How many times has Holy Myron been consecrated in Malankara? The most recent (3 April, 2009, at Devalokam Aramana Chapel) consecration was the ninth instance. Syriac Patriarchs consecrated Holy Myron in 1876 and 1911, respectively by Patriarch Ignatius Peter IV (27 August, 1876) and Patriarch Ignatius Abdullah II Satuff (19 August, 1911). Mulanthuruthy Marthoman Church was the venue on both occasions. After the Catholicate was relocated in 1912, Catholicos Baselius Geevarghese II consecrated Holy Myron twice at the Old Seminary Chapel (22 April, 1932, and 20 April, 1951). Catholicos Baselius Augen I consecrated the Holy Myron once on 21 December, 1967, again at the Old Seminary Chapel. Catholicos Baselius Marthoma Mathews I consecrated the Holy Myron twice (1 April, 1977, and 25 March, 1988), the first instance at the Old Seminary Chapel and on the second occasion at the Devalokam Aramana Chapel. Catholicos Baselius Marthoma Mathews II consecrated the Holy Myron once on 26 March, 1999, at the Devalokam Aramana Chapel. 2.) Are there any other instances of Holy Myron consecration in Malankara? Yes. Patriarch Zakka I Iwas of the Syriac Church has consecrated the Holy Myron for the breakaway Jacobite faction twice at Manarcaud St Mary’s Church (27 February, 1982) and Marthomen Cheriyapalli, Kothamangalam (25 September, 2004). 3.) Who can consecrate the Holy Myron? The convention of consecration of Holy Myron has evolved over the centuries. In most churches, the right is reserved for the Head of the Church. First of all, I greet the representatives of the Oriental Orthodox Churches themselves. Through you, I extend my fraternal greetings to my Venerable Brothers, the Heads of the Churches which you represent: His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, His Holiness Patriarch Zakka I Iwas, His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, His Holiness Patriarch Paulus, His Holiness Patriarch Yakob and His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II. I recall with gratitude the various opportunities I have had to meet them and to strengthen the bonds of charity between us. My greetings also go to the Catholic members of this Preparatory Committee, representing various communities from both East and West.Substantial ecumenical progress has already been made between the Catholic Church and the different Oriental Orthodox Churches. Essential clarifications have been reached with regard to traditional controversies about Christology, and this has enabled us to profess together the faith we hold in common. This progress is most encouraging, since "it shows us that the path followed is the right one and that we can reasonably hope to discover together the solution to other disputed questions" (Ut Unum Sint, 63). May your efforts to establish a Joint Commission for Theological Dialogue prove a major step forward towards full communion in truth and charity.Many of you come from the Middle East and surrounding countries.
