The Ship of the Desert, one of the only Art Deco residences in the desert with a somewhat maritime overtone, will be the first afternoon stop before proceeding down valley to Thunderbird Country Club to view the Firestone Residence designed by William Pereira. An elaborate compound with an extraordinary roofline, this grand house is rarely open to the public. Concluding our day of touring will be the privilege of experiencing the incomparable EIrod House, one of John Lautner's more elaborate schemes. The day promises to be exciting, fun, informative, and inspiring, as we once again welcome the opportunity for interested members and participants to access some of the more significant examples of early- to mid-20th-century residential architecture in Palm Springs.
