RIVERS RUTHERFORD Fact Sheet • Rutherford is celebrating his latest single release, Gretchen Wilson’s current hit, “Homewrecker,” which went #1 on May 17, 2005. • Rivers is working as a producer on albums for Montgomery Gentry, Jamie O’Neal, Tammi Kidd and Jamie Lee Thurston this year. • This summer Rivers will be opening for Keith Urban on his concert tour. • In the fall, Rutherford will be opening for Josh Gracin in Cincinnati, Ohio. • His album, Just Another Coaster, was recorded in 2003 and Rutherford has plans to record a new album this summer. • In 2002, Rivers won the ASCAP song of the year award for “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” (Brooks and Dunn). • Since 1996, Rivers has been a writer at Universal Music Publishing Group. • Gary Allan, Chely Wright, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, Trick Pony, Blake Shelton, Deana Carter, Clay Davidson, Tim McGraw, Andy Griggs and Montgomery Gentry are some of the artists that have recorded Rutherford’s music. • Rutherford is active in helping support the effort led by the Recording Industry of America to stop Internet users from illegally downloading music. • In addition to Rivers’ work as a songwriter, he has enjoyed success as a session guitarist. • Rutherford moved to Nashville in 1993 and worked writing award-winning songs for TV and film. • Rivers received his first cut, “American Remains,” recorded by the Highwaymen in 1989. • He attended the University of Mississippi on a music scholarship and studied piano as well as English. • At 15, Rutherford began his career as a performer on the Memphis Queen Riverboat and played piano, later graduating to the clubs on Beale Street.
