RESETTLEMENT PLAN SUPPLEMENTARY APPENDIX TO THE Report and Recommendation of the President to the Board of Directors on the National Highway Corridor Sector I Project in INDIA National Highways Authority of India This report was prepared by the Borrower and is not an ADB document. December 2003 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Sector Loan Approach 1.1 With increased project development capability of NHAI and in response to the government request for increased flexibility to be incorporated in the selection of road sections to be financed by ADB, it was decided to apply sector loan modality for this year’s project. The sector loan needs to satisfy these criteria: (i) existence of sector investment plan;(ii) the institutional capability to implement the sector development plan; and (iii) the development of sector policies to improve its performance. The sector loan approach has following features: (i) Project Roads were identified as sections to be included in the envisaged sector loan. (ii) From the sections of Project Roads a core subproject was selected, and appraised by ADB, setting an example for the appraisal of other subprojects by NHAI. (iii) NHAI has selected certain non-core subprojects, which meet the predetermined eligibility criteria. These subprojects would be appraised by NHAI in accordance with the guidelines and criteria set out by ADB. Those subprojects thus appraised would be sent, for approval, to ADB with use of a summary report format, together with necessary supportive documents. (iv) As a part of the Project Team, a technical group of experts has been established so as to strengthen capacity of NHAI to review technical reports, design and appraise the technical, financial, economical, environmental and social viability of subprojects.

www.gradeup.co Festivals and Fairs of Madhya Pradesh Festivals of Madhya Pradesh :- The festival of Shivaratri is celebrated, mainly in Khajuraho, Bhojpur and Pachmarhi in the state. The Malwa festival of Indore, Mandu and Ujjain and the dance festival of Khajuraho have a special contribution in keeping the folk-culture alive. Some Important Festivals :- Bhagauria festival- This festival of the Bhil tribe is celebrated on the occasion of Holi when the rabi crop is ripened. This festival starts seven days before Holika Dahan, mainly three festivals are celebrated in it. The first two days are followed by Gulaliya, then two days by Gol Gadedo festival and the last two days by Ujadia festival. This is also a festival of Bhagoria Bhils. Ghadalya festival :- In Ghadalya festival, the girls collectively dance together on the occasion of Navratri. This is the main festival of Malwa. In these, grains and money are collected in their area by placing a perforated pitcher on the head of a young woman and singing a song. Similar to Ghadalya festival, a festival called Chhala is also celebrated by unmarried youths. Karma Festivals :- Karma festivals are mainly celebrated by the people of Oraon tribe in the joy of coming to greenery. When the paddy is ready to be planted, the festival is celebrated and the Karma dance is performed. Suata festival :- Like the Ghadalya festival of Malwa, Suata festival is famous in Bundelkhand region. In this festival an ornate statue of the demon is installed on the wall and in the upper part of it, a statue of Shiva- Parvati is placed, the sun and moon are made on the wall, then the young women worship and sing.

Consultancy services for feasibility study for Shivpuri to Executive Summary Dewas Section of NH-3 (Package-II) Highway Project in the State of Madhya Pradesh EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ES. 1 . Introduction The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been entrusted the task of development of Phase IV (NHDP) Projects. National Highway No. 3 commonly referred to as the AB road, is a major Indian National Highway that runs through Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra states in India. The highway is start at Agra in Uttar Pradesh and end at Mumbai. It travels through Dhaulpur (Rajasthan), Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Biaora, Maksi, Dewas and Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and Dhule, Nashik, and Thane (Maharashtra). Total length of NH-3 is approx 1161 Km. Study of the proposed construction activities is carried out to establish the baseline environmental aspects of the project corridor and to analyze all the expected impacts, required avoidance and the possible cost effective mitigation measures. These mitigation measures need to be stream lined with the engineering design and social impact for effective implementation. ES.2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Package-II of Shivpuri-Dewas section of National Highway 3 has selected as one of highway to be developed under NHDP IV, this project is only for widening & strengthening of existing 2 lane road to 4/6 lane & improvement of its geometry. The total length of the project is 332.600 Km (including Guna bypass) from Km 236.00 (Chainage 000+000) to Km 566.450 (Chainage 332.600 (Fig. ES.1 ). The project road passing through the Six districts with 290 Nos villages viz., Shivpuri, Guna, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Ujjain and Dewas (Shivpuri District – 34 nos., Guna District – 87 Nos, Rajgarh District – 110 Nos, Shajapur District – 29 Nos, Ujjain District – 11 Nos and Dewas District – 15 Nos.) in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
